Surely #teamWIOTOS should shun this thread, as speculation and conjecture are the antithesis of their beliefs?

What doesn't make any sense is that there is a British bid that hasn't done anything. You can explain one party holding off, but not two.

There is 100% a 'British' bid for the Club, which has been accepted by Duchatalet.

I have no idea why they haven't advanced it to completion, hence the speculation that the bid has come from an owner of an existing Club, like Ashley. To be honest that seems more believable than what the Aussies have been doing for the last 18 months.

I accept there may be, but I don't see how we can be sure if we don't even know who is behind it. Just trying to piece things together in a way they make some sense. That doesn't mean they are pieced together even remotely correctly.

And over on the site ‘who’s name shall not be mentioned’ they still maintain that they represent the mainstream opinions of the Addicks.......absolutely laughable.

For what it's worth, I'd be amazed if anything happened now much before the end of the season.

The Aussie bid is intriguing, because if a price has been agreed you'd think the only real blocker would be their ability to raise the funds for the relative value. If that's correct, it will also hamstring other potential bids because RD can rightly claim a party is prepared to pay that price and won't budge significantly downwards. It should also concern us that as a result the type of investor and/or the structure of the deal and its funding may well give rise to future issue. For example, if the ownership of property assets was separated from the football club.

What I don't understand is why RD is throwing stupid figures at what we should assume are enquiries from genuinely interested parties. Why should he care who owns the club, provided he receives his price? Very odd.

Could the Aussies have negotiated a period of exclusivity?

Probably controversial, but Ashley's model at Newcastle would probably work much better at a smaller club with lesser expectations, used to a selling outlook. Corrupt practices aside, that may not be the worst outcome in the world, although Ashley himself would be far from my choice.

Frankly, if the deal was right for us in the long term I'd live with Murray still being involved, but I hope for a clean slate with football-oriented owners with moderate ambition to grow the club in the long term, and to value the fans, our identity, and our history. Too much to ask?

If takeover doesn't go through and we don't miraculously get promotion then who will want to be here next season?

    Sarr and Pratley
You love a scapegoat......a totally predictable post coming from you.
You never miss a chance to diss someone........it’s strange obsession fella?

Really @SoundAsa£? You sure you’re not mixing me up with someone else?

They’re two of very few players still under contract for next season. Pratley’s coming towards the end of his career and Sarr is likely on a good wage given he signed back in 2014.
Possibly.....but I thought you were digging out Pratley on the last match thread....if I’m mistaken please accept my apologies.

Don’t think I said anything other than he should have come off at half time, we had Williams and Clarke on the bench who offer more in attack. I wouldn’t call that scapegoating or digging a player out, they get far worse comments than that.

Think you are piecing together different potentially interested parties SHG

Yes, I have no info that Usmanov got a sale document with a £70m price tag. And he got it back in late Sept early Oct, I believe. I think the confusion comes because Airman posted his info in a reply to mine, but I didn't understand that he believed this was for Usmanov.

According to LdT sensitive information such as price is only communicated once an NDA is signed. Ie it’s not in the sale document. Assuming Usmanov’s interest ceased after reading the sale document and before signing an NDA and therefore being quoted a price, I wonder what he saw in the sale document that he didn’t like and is that what is causing the Aussies and British consortiums to not push to a purchase.

Well LB and the players are doing their best to promote the club and make them more attractive to purchasers. Shame the owner can't do the same.

To be fair, he has backed Bows so far this January and let’s see who else comes through the door. (and maybe out).

Or is it window that they come through that then slams shut?

If the Aussies/Brits don’t finalise soon after seeing recent performances and the increasing odds for promotion they will be mugs.

Have to agree. A good window and keep hold of the two boys up front and you'd have to say we've got a chance.
If only Roland had kept his nose out from the start and let football people do football things.

So this is going to be very unpopular.

If Duchatelet is going to run the club with the current or slightly improved budget, and let Bowyer and Gallen get in with it, could be worse.

Needs to get some contract offers on the table for half the squad

    No.

He will never get it right as he does not understand football.

He has just got lucky this season. If Bows leaves he will be sunk.

Roland is extremely untrustworthy and unpredictable and he is a liar. At least we can see that now.

    We are used to it.

    But...

    This auzzie-yank thing. I don't know

It's just rolling a dice really isn't it. It is not like we have varney and co taking over.

If, after when Roland bought the club, Katrien wasn't involved and he didn't attend games, didn't send rediculous emails to Powell and a load more weird selfish unfair things.

If he bought Charlton and just sat back. Allow the people WHO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND WHO LIKE FOOTBALL do their jobs

Then having Roland as owner wouldn't have been too bad.

We are just always going to be angry about this.

Ok at the moment, we don't have a big squad.

What we do have, is a good manager and a young team who are just about consistent enough and who will always be up there pushing for promotion.

The championship is where we belong.

The roll of a dice. Is still just what this is.

    Let's not f*ck it up!
