Would be an idea for people not to go spouting nonsense about something they clearly have no knowledge of.
He left us because we accepted an offer and he went to better his life, his career, and fulfil his dreams at a more stable club, even if they have just been relegated from the Premier League. Like I have said before, it is not like he forced a move out and didn't care, because he did care and I would bet he would be at Wembley supporting the boys in May if we get there.
I clapped Clarke yesterday for example and think he is a great pro, but Grant done more in his time here and also came through the academy, plus signed for a club higher in the pyramid, not as if it was a sideways step.
My point in regards to his reception, if it’s not as good as Clarke’s was yesterday, then it’s rather embarrassing. Doesn’t have to be a heroes welcome, I’m not suggesting that at all.5 -

However the Clarke comparison is not a fair one as Clarke's departure was down to circumstances arising following a long term injury.
People recognised that and applauded him accordingly as he contributed well during the short period of time he was fit.
In terms of Grant people will have to make their own minds up. I suspect there was pressure from Roland for him to leave irrespective of his (Karlan's) own preferences which distinguishes him from Parker for example.
I will clap Karlan if he returns to The Valley in a FA Cup match in the future. I don't see him returning imminently any other way.

Why only The FA Cup? You do not believe we could go up this season and he could be playing against us in the Championship next season?0 -
EveshamAddick said:Thanks to Roland, we can now say we have seen a Championship star of the future.
And still playing for CAFC0 -
Why do people think he's instantly going to be in the Championship next season?
Could quite easily get a few more goals seeing that Huddersfield are relegated and can now play for freedom
Nothing to say that another more secure Premier League team wont make a punt on him (i.e. Bournemouth if they lose Wilson as expected in the summer...)0 -

I think crowds are more sympathetic to players who move down the football ladder, i.e those who’ve been released or who leave to get 1st team football rather than those who move up the ladder. Thus Waggy say would get a better reception than Cousins or Holmes0

Norwich, Leeds if promoted, Burnley and Brighton to name just 4 teams that could go for Grant because even though he still has a lot to learn he has pace and can score goals. He's only 21 but has played in all 4 divisions.

Yes he scored a cracking goal a couple of weeks ago, but then Lisbie scored that hattrick against Liverpool and he found his natural level lower down.1 -

Not only do Huddersfield have a pretty good chance of going back up but if he scores a couple more goals by the end of the season then one of the promoted sides might take a punt on him next season.
Goals are the most precious thing in football and people are always looking for goalscorers.2 -
Karlan has played 7 and scored 3 in the PL. Which included a deflection off his knee and a world class curler from just outside the 18 yard box...
People saying he needs to improve significantly may need to understand he has and always has had that knack of being in the right place at the right time, but he has added finishing to that since January 2018.
He has also been involved in 60% of Huddersfields goals when he's been on the pitch.
He's only played 399 minutes and that works out as a goal every 133 minutes. Not bad really, especially in a struggling side.
Wish him all the best and could see a mid-table side taking a punt on him also.3 -
Look at how much he has improved already in the last 12 months. With better coaching, training facilities and players around him to learn from there is no reason he will plateau already. Look at some of the overseas tosh that clubs sign. No reason a young, English player wouldn't be an attractive option for a middle/lower prem club.3

They won't need to sell Grant for financial reasons, so unless a silly bid came in I expect he'll be their player in the Championship next year and suspect he'll do well. He's already likely to be their top scorer this season in the league.
He'll get a small clap from me if he plays against us, not a Chris Powell reception but I won't be booing him.1 -
Lots of people up above talking about Grant playing against us next season, they have done their bit and are confirmed to be in The Championship next season. We have a long, long way to go.5

Clubs gaining promotion from the Championship might well be looking to strengthen their squads, as might clubs who only just avoided relegation from the Premiership, and he’s just the sort of player with the goalscoring touch they’ll be looking for. I expect they’ll probably pay more than £1.5m.0 -
Let's use realistic figures... I'll be working at least 30 more years as it stands and earn about £750 a week.
£20k a week is a reasonable average salary for a footballer across 10 years (quite a short career).
I'd rather have 10 years at 20k a week than 30 at £750 a week.
That's £10.4m vs £1.17m
In 2 weeks I'd have out earned my annual salary. Probably will have bought every gadget I wanted and be planning on buying a plot of land to build a house and a new car and a new motorbike...
Once I've wasted say £5m I think I could live off the remainder for the rest of my days. (It'd still be more than I'd earn doing what I do)

I think he'll do well at Championship level, which is surely what they bought him for.1 - Sponsored links:

Always rated Grant and so pleased he showed how good he was for us. Played for England through the age groups which showed he had the talent.
Scoring rate so far in the Premiership not shabby playing for a shit team.
Happily applaud him him on his return; and when he gets his first full cap for England.2 -

Not particularly anything against his ability but he’d have to do a lot to get anywhere near our current front 5, all of whom are young.0 -

I'd take that still and even If i'm allowed to waste £1m that'll do.0 -

I was one of Karlan's biggest critics as he was getting chance after chance and wasting attempt after attempt.
I remember people saying "Once he gets one he'll score more"
Here's how his career has played out so far:
2014/15 Season - P6 G0 A0 (189 Minutes)
Plays in the FA CUP
Plays 5 Championship games
2015/16 Season - P23 G3 A2 (1119 Minutes)
Plays 3 League Cup games - Scores 2 assists 1
Plays 17 Championship games - Scores 1 assists 1
Plays 3 League 2 games for Cambridge
2016/17 Season - P12 G0 A1 (300 Minutes)
Plays 8 League One games - Assists 1
Plays 1 EFL Trophy game
Plays 3 EFL Cup games
2017/18 Season - P46 G13 A2 (2562 Minutes)
Plays 22 League One games - Scores 1 Assists 1
Plays 15 League Two games - Scores 9
Plays 5 EFL Trophy games - Scores 2 Assists 1
Plays 2 EFL Cup games
Plays 2 FA Cup games - Scores 1
2017/18 Season - P36 G17 A5 (2784 Minutes)
Plays 7 Premier League games - Scores 3
Plays 28 League One games - Scores 14 Assists 5
Plays 1 FA Cup games
Once he scored, his goals dried up and he wasn't performing as well in training hence being dropped when we were relegated. It was in that 16/17 Season that he really struggled to get into the side and was clearly not favoured by the management team. It irritated many of us that he wasn't kicking on and that can have only have been down to himself... And possibly KR's management.
It seemed it was only the threat of having to live in League 2 that kicked his rear into gear.
He certainly has proven this season that his time at Crawley last season wasn't a one off and I can only see him continuing to grow and improve as a player.0 -
He was the next big thing to come out of our academy until Ademola Lookman came in and stole the spotlight.I'm glad they're both doing well for themselves but Ademola needs to get out of Everton fast.7
-
Ademola at the moment is at risk of being over-shadowed by Karlan in the goals department as the latter has already scored more
Karlan's issue is the fact that those stats highlight the minutes but how many games were starts - He struggled to begin with for us because he kept being thrown in with 10-min cameos here and there, it just doesnt work if you constantly keep doing that0 -
Was regularly played in the wrong position too, iirc?
Messi would probably struggle playing for KR.
