Gareth Southgate's career will go exactly the same way if he feels he can do better at club level than England

We have this every time a black manager is sacked. He wasn't appointed because he was black and he wasn't sacked because he was black.

Look at more than his colour. The team in poor form, not playing well and just avoided relegation.

    I agree with you.

His statement "What people don't understand is the real difficulties for black managers getting through the bottle neck at the top of football" . We are talking about measly numbers" is missing the point and doesn't relate to Brighton's poor season.

Like Chris Powell at Southend, if the team performs badly the manager gets the sack and that goes on in any sports, including NFL or basketball.

I suppose Brighton could be considered fortunate not to get relegated. The board have to decide whether their poor showing is down to the manager. I suspect it was more to do with the fact that Brighton are one of the clubs who can get relegated due to budgets etc... But if they think they can get a manager in who is better, well the proof of the pudding will be in the eating next season. I am sure Hughton will get another job soon as I don't see his reputation has been damaged. He got Brighton promoted and he hasn't got them relegated!

Good fit that. Reckon he'd get them promoted

I think fans aren't prepared to accept the Pulis style of football now, the world has moved on when you see what the likes of Norwich and Sheff Utd have achieved this season, both also with small budgets.

Boro scored 49 goals this season, Norwich 93!

Not a chance, he will be back in charge of a team before the new season kicks off. Plenty of desperate chairmen out there hoping to reach the Holy Grail of football.

Yep, they could have Guardiola and Klopp as a joint management team, with Messi and CR7 up front, and they'd still find a way to be dour and boring. A football club very much cast in the same mould as the town it calls home.

They should get Tony Mowbray back and give him the job for life - nobody epitomises the people of Middlesbrough more than him. Gloomy and gruff with a slight hint of radiation poisoning.

    Massimiliano Allegri leaving Juventus.

Who are they likely to bring in? Surely, it won’t be someone like Mourinho? Although I can see it happening as they want the Champions League and Jose has history of doing well in Europe.

    Its a strange one.
Conte was apparently set to take the Inter job but held off when Allegri rumours started. Sounded like Conte was going to return to Juventus, but now it seems more likely he will head to Inter after all.

    Maybe Poch could be tempted?

Allegri was in charge for 5 years and lost only 36 games in all competitions. 11 trophies and 2 CL runners up. Incredible record.

I wonder if Man U wish they'd waited until the summer as he'd have been a better appointment than Solksjaer.

Now Allegri is available, they may well give OGS the boot.

Whilst I am yet to encounter a single person who can understand why they appointed OGS permanently before the end of the season, when there was absolutely no need at all to do so, they would make themselves look utterly ridiculous if they sacked him 6 weeks into a 3 year contract.

They need to stick with him, clear out the bad eggs and back him in the transfer window. They will then look slightly less ridiculous when they sack him just before the start of the January transfer window with United in 7th and miles off the Champions League places.

Because the media were banging on saying that they couldnt understand why Man Utd hadnt signed him on a perm the moment they beat PSG, even a lot of Football fans were calling for it

Funnily you wonder where all those people have disappeared to as the media have done what they always do which is pretend they never wrote any of the original stories

Unless they can get the transfer ban overturned I don’t think managers will be too eager to join Chelsea right now.

Shame that Potter has jumped ship, dont think it'll work for him @ Brighton and think he'll set his reputation back

Swansea was turning into a great project for him, he came over from Sweden as an unknown (in some ways) and there was never any certainty that he'd succeed - They certainly didn't have a great summer of rebuilding after relegation and Potter was slowly putting together a great team of youngsters like Daniel James who looks to be going to Man Utd, just think he should have stuck in Wales for a bit longer

Swansea look like a team going backwards, with their best players leaving and money for decent replacements not there, I'm not surprised a chance of PL glory has proved tempting. It's not as if Brighton are a "sacking" club either

They Probably will get it overturned. Only poor clubs really ever get punished.
