All from struggling Championship teams or promoted L1 teams

2 of those players from Barnsley, keeper Davies on a free and Lindsay for £2m.
Powell from Wigan, Cousins from QPR, Gregory from Millwall though

Agree. But the announcement will be that we lost all 5 because they would not accept £2500/week.

I think it's all decent, didn't that Davies make team of the season last season? Lindsay is the worst of Barnsleys centre back pairing (behind Pinnock all their fans will say) but still rated, Cousina we all know about him, Powell is a risk, big wages and a bit of a sick note and even though Gregory is Millwall his record speaks for itself, most shrewd business out of the lot imo.

Nothing to be wowed by but definitely decent, Stoke should have a better season this time around

Great to see Barnsley have lost Davies

Lose Pennock and Moore and they'll be in just as much trouble as us

So that is Morrison and Lee Gregory left Millwall. Who are they replacing them with?

No strikers and no goalkeepers, both of us have a lot of work to do!

Now that you have posted that, I expect Twitter "insider" accounts around the country within 24 hours to be claiming it is happening.

Notwithstanding £35million of parachute money for this season. Stoke are obviously tightening their belts financially. The arrival of Adam Davies certainly confirms the departure of Jack Butland for a sizeable fee.

Jordan Cousins should be a decent squad player over a gruelling 46 game league season, but his wage requirements are obviously outside our budget (like pretty well all established players) and we have other priorities.

A blow for Millwall losing Gregory (although they’ve known about it for a long time), plus I think that Harris was looking to unload Tom Elliot. Very hard to find decent front men.

We definitely need someone like that. I was wondering at what point does Bow go back to Roland and say he just can't build a squad on his pathetic budget, and we'd not be competitive and Roland will look an even bigger cnut?

At which point I imagine that Roland will just shrug his shoulders and say tough

He'll probably blame Bowyer for the tight transfer budget now

i.e. Lee demanded a bigger wage to stay as Manager, that money will have come from the player budget I bet

I don’t think any of us will underestimate Roland’s capacity for further eccentric behaviour, given his absurd track record. He’s also only likely to get worse as he become increasingly frayed by the long-running takeover soap opera and the unwillingness of the various parties (both real and imagined) to pay (in his mind) his perfectly reasonable purchase price.

I dunno, it must be quite nice to get 5 inductions done at the same time.

Interesting what Nathan Jones says about him here

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/stoke-transfer-qpr-jordan-cousins-3019746.amp

The fact that Jones and Hart will utilise him where he played for our Academy but not actually where he's been playing for Charlton or QPR

Makes me think he'll be played at Centre-Back as whenever he played for us it was either DM or RB

As his old Academy manager, Nathan Jones will know how to get the best out of Cousins.

Quite possibly the principle reason Cousins signed for Stoke, rather than elsewhere.

Just hope he can handle the move

Yes he was at a big club with both us and QPR but in this instance he's at a club now whose fans I imagine will be expecting nothing less than the Play-Offs this year in their hopes of a return to the Premier League

Slightly surprised Jones wants Cousins to play as a holding midfielder, as to me his engine is one of his strengths and in that position, you're not really using it.

It felt a lot longer, but Jones was actually only with us for a year

I agree. Cousins has an outstanding engine and one of his greatest strengths was that he seemed to get stronger towards the end of games when some other players were starting to tire.

Stoke haven’t disclosed the length of his contract but I imagine it’s two years, given Cousins’ misfortune with injuries at QPR and the need for the club to tighten its belt financially, with a big drop in the parachute money in 2020/21.

A big season for Stoke and Nathan Jones - I don’t think the natives or the board will stand for another 16th place finish.

They have to though... Their squad rebuild is probably the biggest required in League One this summer
