The Takeover Thread - Duchatelet Finally Sells (Jan 2020)

Been strangely lost for words since my niece pinged me the news this morning (and I thought she's been faked, as i had been on CL 10 mins earlier). Loads of people have said it all in so many great ways.
So instead I wrote back to the guy from Rapid Bucharest. At the end I mentioned why 30 years on we are celebrating all over again. And being the presumptious sod I am, I left him with this final message from all of us:
Good luck - and even in your darkest hour...NEVER surrender!36 -

So pleased for all our supporters, the staff and player's, especially Lee Bowyer and his coaching staff.
The timing is brilliant.
We really do support a special club, and we finally have the good luck that the club deserves.
COYR !

The first thing East Street Investments are looking to do when they take control (the takeover needs EFL approval) is secure Lee Bowyer on an extended contract. And the second thing....is to do the same with Lyle Taylor.

PemburyAddick said:My Valley Gold number was pulled out of the hat to do Crossbar Challenge tomorrow. I nominated my 18 year old son to do it, and we went to Sparrows Lane at lunchtime to get some tips from the under 18s. When we arrived Lee and Keith Peacock started chatting to my son and Lee offered to provide him some training - I think its a first for Crossbar Challengers. He spent about half an hour patiently coaching him, which when you think about the hectic schedule he has, and the weighty news announcement this morning, that is quite special. Lee couldn't be more relaxed, As you probably know, we have one very special gaffer there.
Steve Avery also spent a lot of time chatting to him and encouraging.
What a day, what a club1 -

How long does it take the EFL to bloody approve the damn thing, why do they need more than a month to do that
Would be happy if it gets announced on the pitch before the Hull game on Friday 13th Dec but honestly just so long as it gets done and announced before the January window opens there's not much else different the new owners can do anyway between now and then.0 -

Just keep everything crossed that there's no wicked stepmother/father to spoil the plot.
Keep asking Mr F to pinch me.....after I wake him up.
He's ever been so excited ! :-)2 -

Roland fucked us over by getting rid of Yann for that reason when it was clear he had plenty of years left5 -
There is no wrong answer but do we have a rich (CEO) owner or a Very very rich (royal) owner?0

It looks like we have a very rich Director who is CEO at another Company for a very very VERY rich Royal3 -
Not mentioned yet I don't think... I wonder if we have a chance now of signing Cullen!??2

Even if offered new terms by West Ham (I think its likely) he could stall and see if we offer better terms in the summer for him

Brilliant news but remember that we all got excited when RD purchased the club8

The owners want a return and know there is only one way to get that, get us into the PL. Sounds like they want to offer our core staff proper contracts. Their announcement showed exactly the right tenor, indicating they have a clear feel of the lay of the land, in terms of club culture and fan fears.Remember, when RD bought us, our first sense of them was this awful video...

Peterborough are bigging up Tomey's value like his some cryptocurrency. You with your finance background ought to spot the danger signals there10 -

BFG94 said:Wrote on the pre-match thread early this morning that fans needed to get behind the team more than ever. Then came the great news. Now The Valley is going to be rocking. Can't wait.
The truth is the 14 who play tomorrow need the support because at least 7 or 8 of the squad tomorrow won't be involved next season and that's just if we have a mid table wage and transfer policy for the championship.
Whether Sarr, Morgan, Pearce, Solly etc, they deserve 100% support while they wear the shirt.
All the players have been on the Charlton journey, and because of a dozen Injuries some are now getting games.
When we get the nod from the EFL a new chapter will start, but we are still an injury racked squad and we need to be the 12th Man tomorrow.
We have achieved Rexit, now onwards and upwards.
