Maybe it was a good window, but I'd say Southall has made himself look like a twat.
  • Load of fireworks going off round here, is that cos window shut and we’ve still got Lyle or Brexit bollox

Anyway, depth through the squad now, with Chuks fit and Bonne close; that’s 4 strikers, 2 proper creators in Williams and McGeady, cover for Cullen, pace in Green, and Lyle staying.

    looks a more rounded squad
Chuks a striker? Not for me he isn’t.

Summer will be the time to really strengthen when the market is far more reasonable.

That's the happiest you've been for weeks, Len!

  • I dont think we are a stronger squad after that!! I really really obviously hope we stay up but after that transfer window I'm proper worried!!!
  • Awsome last minute signing
    A real handfull
    Watch this space
Are we stronger than this time yesterday
    Most f**king definitely
Of late we have been poor in midfield!

Not a spectacular window in terms of names, but a window that will keep us up.
Needed the midfielders. Got the strikers already.
Summer clear out and the proper squad will be built

  • I doubt these players were anywhere near Bowyers or Gallens list of targets a week ago. I think we failed on all our first choices and I think that Smith and Davis might even have materialised as possibles this morning. Keeping Lyle was mega but I don’t think very many of us are overly impressed with this window.
  • Summer will be the time to really strengthen when the market is far more reasonable.
Big money will hopefully be spent on T Valley and S Lane our two most important purchases in the summer , currently on loan with a view to permanent
  • Two loan signings not good enough at the moment.
    How about three?
  • what money?
  • I like Southall from what I’ve seen of him but I really hope he’s learnt a lesson today about silence being golden. Still, if he’d stuck to carrot sticks, hummus and beetroot juice instead of all that junk food he probably wouldn’t have been bashing about on his phone like a sugared up toddler.

Good transfer window, but spoiled by MS, who hyped and raised hopes when he didn't have to. (Dick)

Good 24 hours really. Weird comments from Southall this morning that probably raised expectations but we've largely got what we needed. Can't help but think we need a forward though.

That'll do me fine, with Lyle staying. It's well known, at least by those who listen to the people in the game who know their stuff (as opposed to sitting watching the charade that is SSN) that the Jan window is no place to go splashing money or building for the long term. I think Matt Southall has slightly overdone it with the tweets, but you only have to stop for a moment and think where we'd be tonight if they hadn't taken over.

Have Barnsley had a better window, anyone able to assess? I'm willing to bet the answer is "no".

So who doesn't make the squad from the loan players when they're all available?
Smith probably. Or just some rotation. McGeady isn't exactly the fittest lad and Field is going to be eased back in so we might see some genuine rotation. Cullen shouldn't be played too much at this stage in case he breaks down again, he's only just come back and he's already had one recurrence of the injury

Keeping Lyle is the best bit of business in this window. It buys us 6 months to try and tie up a long term deal. Should use the money we were going to pay Maddison to fund the deal

It is brilliant that Lyle Taylor stays.
Hope he and all the others can stay fit.
Now is the time to roll our sleeves up.
Barnsley play with the same kind of competitive effort we do under Lee, tomorrow it is real business.
  • We kept Lyle.
    Nothing else matters.
We will be in the Championship next season.
New faces that made us excited would have been great, but the job for Bowyer is steady the ship. The old face of Taylor on the pitch tomorrow is the most important in many people's eyes. Good day, for some new faces. Fucking awesome that Lyle is still in the Red & White army.

Still cant believe we spent no money either and it was just loans
  • Hopefully we should have to play with three Centre Backs again now

Can go with a few options in midfield now

    Diamond

Cullen ... Pratley or Field ...| Davis or Smith
Oztumer or Williams or Aneke or McGeady

    4-2-3-1

Cullen ... Pratley or Field or Davis or Smith
Green ... Oztumer or Williams or Aneke or McGeady ... Doughty or McGeady

Purely in terms of numbers at least we are up, will they match Gallagher for quality? Who knows but at least now it's an actual squad not first 11 with a bench drawn directly from the academy

So who doesn't make the squad from the loan players when they're all available?
Who ever is not fit or does not work hard enough. Simples.

    Matt Southall, what a wally
    Why?
‘Marquee signings’ ‘we will spend money’ ‘prices and wage demands drop at the end of the window’ all the fart arsing on social media and we get 4 loans. Wally.
    Fair enough. Just gauging opinions.

Save it for the summer - No point wasting it now for tat

What was all the buzz about Matt Southall, all the tweets all the excitement for a few loans no new strikers and no money spent I’m actually shocked and very disappointed I thought this window was going to be different.
We went 29 days without a signing after getting Green, that didn't suggest a different than usual window. We've done well to come back from the brink of no more signings to add three late doors.

However, it will be the busy summer that Gallen didn't want given the amount of loans. But that's when we can really start again, hopefully after a successful relegation battle.
