If it's the bloke I'm thinking about (also known as Cockney Tel) he jumpt ship and pitched in with West Ham. Used to live in Lee ...sunbury-addick said:A Chelsea mate of mine used to come up the covered end on Friday nights with me in mid / late 70's. He asked me the other night "whatever became of "Fat Tel", he , and I, both remember him summoning up a little mottley crew to get stuck into oppo fans on the south terrace (with dubious success) on most visits to the Valley - any clues on an update for my mate anyone. "Fat Tel" must have been about 16 then
Yep, was heavily involved in the Ready friendly (1976). Bad day at the office for me that day ...Baldybonce said:
he had lank greasy hair and always looked like he'd been dragged through a hedge. He was involved in the Reading away friendly business.sunbury-addick said:Blimey baldy - thought it was only us 2 that remembered / imagined the fella - cheers mate

Does make me laugh though, you're all here reveling in the 'glory days' and how it was so much better then, Talking of mobs and such, Millwall so much as fart and you go all palace and condescending, we're scum of the earth and your shit don't stink blah blah blah.

Haha, nothing really. Over the moon with our point up at derby, was expecting a drubbing. Just eaten my own body weight in Asian cuisine whilst watching palace get beat on MotD so quite cheerful really.Brendan_O_Connell said:

I have been watching highlights from early 90s.
We have been discussing it on a couple of wassapp groups I’m sure we covered it on here not checked but thought I would bump it anyway.
who remembers Bristol Rovers away last game of the season when we only had 900 tickets but took over the whole ground. Great times 👍🏻😂2 -

i think we had an outside chance of making the play offs.
was it Simon Webster who had a goal ruled out?1 -

Quality day out.
think @fatrob had a contact down that way who hoovered up dozens of tickets in the home end.
quite a few of our crowd got nicked for various misdemeanours there and back at Paddington0 -

I was at the Bristol R game. My Golf GTI broke down just outside Bath and we hit the recovery to drop us at the ground before taking it to a nearby garage.I got on the pitch at the final whistle only to suddenly realise I was heavily outnumbered by Rovers fans. Quickly grabbed hold of Gary Nelson and put my arm around him. The picture made the back page of the Mercury6

My abiding memory of that Bristol Rovers game was Bob Bolder getting ready to take a goal kick, and pausing as a police horse walked across the six yard box. At least it didn't drop a packet like they do in Harvey Gardens, sure Bob wouldn't fancy diving into that :-)1

after the game we were back in a pub near the station and watched as rovers mob waited for and ambushed a Swindon mob coming out of the station looking for them1 -

It must be something in the cider down there.

That was a good read.
Missed this thread first time around.
Was at most of games recounted, thank god I’m not blonde 😘
After Bristol City away, we used to buy anything with the wee fighting Irish emblem on for my Dad, we had to drag him to the coach as there he was in his hat wanting to take everyone on.

Bristol Rovers is one of the most memorable days I've had watching Charlton over the last 45 years. Had everything!2
