The barman was a liar he said it was a fizzy 5Alive not a bottle of Diamond white and a casterway mixer 4 or.5 of those on top of the nelsons I was a tad tipsy!!!
Charlton v Palace 89/90 lost 2-1 Walshie scored I think? On the way back we all got carried away and a certain Mr Burt was in the rankings (slam door train) and was kicking the in the roof pulling into london bridge he realised he was missing a shoe he found it stuck in the ceiling!!!!
Used to do a lot of England games back then too with jay burt , terry naylor and Co . we also did a scum testimonial and stood at the back of the cold blow lane signing Charlton songs
I remember that how did we walk alive?
Anyone remember when England played Poland at wembley 89? there must have been about 20 of us singing Charlton songs and pissing a lot of people off then School boy Dean now lives in Thailand steamed the polish section on his own he was one of Charlton's top boys of that era??
Great days!!
Think that was against turkey, not Poland. NSS may be able to confirm that though.
The best trip of all was the 1991 tour of Scotland 6 of us done it in a transit van with the final night of the tour being spent in Dundee with all the boys from north of the border.

1993 saw a few mates off on the coaches going over to italy for the anglo italian cup, OB looked at the 8 of us left and asked you not getting on? No we're off to holland v england in rotterdam for the world cup qaulifier and the look on the OB faces was priceless!
no this Plymouth game was about August/September Nelson's first goal for us, the end of season game was the one everyone went of the pitch, I followed Paul Gorman down the tunnel, someone had his shirt and shorts,he looked at me in horror, I told him I didn't want his fuckin pants as I weren't a poof, just gimme your socks.
... and that was the start of my sportswear business.
Never done one of those even though I was a junior red! Started going away games proper in the 86 season (glory boy lol) it's funny how groups met without Mobile phones Facebook twitter etc etc!
This might be my memory playing tricks but before the Newcastle 3-4 game did the coaches stop outside Newcastle (possibly in Redcar as I remember a race course) at a local pub?
How many of you guys started off doing away games on the Junior Red coaches in the eighties
Didnt do the junior red coaches but for some reason me and Pat Sharp ended up in the back of Jimmy S van on a trip to Cambridge. We went in the clubhouse there were they had layed on food for our Junior Reds. We Pretended that we had been part of the pre match game and tucked into the grub while drinking larger noone said anything even though we were supposed to be under 16.

Yes, in catterick. Used to stop there for the NE away games for a couple of seasons.

That was it! Thanks Dave.
I remember Newcastle a few years later, a night game that we drew 2-2 but they were flying at the time. Leaburn scored and got knocked out. The atmosphere that night was electric!
