Blackburn away when we won 2-0 Leaburn scored and we got on the pitch. It pissed down and we all sang were singing in the rain. That was great i used to love never felt more like singing the blues when Charlton win and Palace lose.

One of my fav away days from back then there wernt many of us there but everyone you speak to got on the pitch

That little bird steward on the gate bit calling us all the fs and cs there were and how she couldnt wait for us to piss off back to london

Soaking wet standing in mud on the pitch

Used to watch the end of season video and watch that bit over and over again
  • Another name springs to mind
    since you mention this game
    Bod
Did he go on the pitch in this game as well as Plymouth away nelson s penalty

I was also pleased to be with him at the bristol rovers game home end where he was trying to kick some rovers fans
ticket that day supplied by fat rob
  • I remember some of the matches mentioned, but was only a young kid so was always with my dad. Somehow I think we avoided the trouble at Bristol City in the cup, the only time I've seen any really was a minibus of Burnley fans getting smashed up after they did over one of our pub's the previous season.

The FA Cup game up at Anfield in 1996, does anyone else remember someone letting out a massive fart during the minute's silence? I still smile about that, must have been at least 20 rows behind where we were.
  • A bit later the trip to villa in a limo

Mark D***tt was also the best one for getting nicked d&d. Always had a stupid ritual of buying two pints and downing one, then was out of it after about two hours. Would either get nicked or fall asleep in the pub, there was never a middle ground.

Remember a post match party at his house where he poked a cigarette in his own eye, and @Swerve had to take him to hospital I think.

Was it Mark that got nicked after Bristol Rovers along with Taz the yid.The old bill giving us all a section 5 warning. (If we lose if we fail take it out on british rail). lol we really were the RD of our day.
Fog swerves brother in law got nicked that day
Poor old Marlene (Steve E) got taken to court for swearing at a copper on the train home. The bloke up before them had clumped his bird and was basically let off by the judge, they thought they had a lenient one and would get off but he gave it the 'football fans are scum' speech and fined the poor sods!
Swerve do you remember the mid week game at Leicester and I was meant to be staying at your house where i had dropped off all my stuff and you got nicked I then had to stay at Paul's house? Don't think his mum was to impressed at 2.00am in the morning!
  • Villa in a limo brings back memorys never seen so much booze run out so quick and NLA sticking his head out the sunroof and losing his hat lol
  • And martin pissing himself in the limo
  • Another good night at the valley was palace mid week in the cup about 93/94, a load of us chased palace through the estate behind the covered end. RF and I got pulled by the OB walking out of the estate and then placed in a back of a van. Both displaying our cafc pin badges we were asked "where do you live" to which we both replied "Croydon"! We were then accused of being lying b&@#ard's! Once we gave more accurate address details, they then took our word for it and told us we should both be palace - no thanks you can stick that one where the sun doesn't shine!
  • I think it is fair to say that you lot were not the Red Division of the 90's!

Nice work lads - sounds like some great times. I was at that Bristol City game and also Bristol Rovers around the same time.

Arsenal away midweek was around about then too. I remember a group of CAFC turning up a bit late at the back of the terrace all tattered, bloodied and torn and relishing the fact they'd recognise them after the game as they (assumedly Arsenal) had a few black lads with them.

A few years later (95 (?)) at Tottenham, a mate and I walked into one pub after the game and as he bought the pints I went to the toilet. A bloke followed me in, asked if I was Charlton and (without me answering) advised me to fuck off and leave.

Swift pint late we are outside another pub and as we are about to enter a taxi pulls up and 4 blokes get out. They ask if we are Charlton (and having a better feeling about this one) I say yes. They then say great, we have some others arriving here soon and we're going to smash the pub up (it was full and assumedly full of Tottenham) so we sloped off.

Coventry away when the Cov nutter stood up in the away seats with his shirt off and tattoos out - WTF ?

Early 90s I was studying for degree in the Midlands and went to most Charlton away from Leicester upwards. There seemed to be a lot of games. Always had to go on my own though and try to bolt on to any sensible groups when I landed. Any decent towns and my mates from uni would aim to arrive at about 6 to go at it in the bars and clubs with narcs very much part of it as expected in those years.

I went to a fair few Chelsea (away), West Brom, Notts County etc games as well in those years - went to a game every Saturday, got pissed, tried to pull and went "home" either that night or next day depending on how things went. I was a member of The Leicester working man's club just behind Filbert Street - horrible.

They were brilliant years - the music, additivies and general feeling was excellent. Never got into the violence scene but am confident I caused plenty of chaos in the name of CAFC in a few ways.

Despite the years, back, liver, hearing, eyesight, kids, wives etc....I'd do it all again too.

That was a great away day and I also watched the video over and over. It was the days of the Moving Magazine which was that monthly video the club brought out. It was ok when we were winning but I bought one from either '91/92 or the year after where it was padded out with footage of a players day out at Brands Hatch. Bob Bolder was shown winning some off roading contest against Palace players. Another highlight was Leaburn getting presented with a telly at a local Rumbelows after getting the MOM award vs Fulham. And I was paying 15 or 16 quid a pop for these videos. Used to buy them from that caravan which was our club shop at Upton Park.

Loving reading this thread, I'm sure I'm on nodding terms with some of you.

Bod definitely was on the pitch that day....we all were!

    Greatest thread ever - fact.

Barnsley away (again) we were losing as per usual but there was a saturday league match taking place on the pitches behind the open end and I remember we started chanting stuff at the players in that game. It was shortly before the conga. That was the first time I ever went in a Yates (wine lodge)!

Terry Naylor called me foghorn on the way to palace many years ago. I thought it summed me up well. LOL
  • Port vale away midweek and Gritty scoring in the 89th min we went mentle.

Millwall at home( upton park) coming over the ferry that day after the game. I bumped into two birds i knew who were millwall. They said dont go down the foot tunnel its all kicking off, We went over on the ferry we could hear shouting from the tunnel when we got to woolwich loads of kids from school were milling around. One of my mates come over and said i have just been hit by Charlton, There must of been about 30+ millwall and they were moaning that about 6 Charlton had chased them and then been chased out of the tunnel. When they came out the 6 Charlton had found a skip and was bricking them. Lol i never let my mate forget that he got done by Charlton. Thanks to the Charlton 6 who so my millwall mates told me ran in the mite pub on the corner.
  • Watford away early 90s and loyd going under the fence into no mans land the old bill had his legs and we all had his arms. Ihave been trying to remember things all day. haha

  • i remember watford away.saw roy evans the liverpool manager in the town centre.he come to watch charlton has we had them the following week in the cup.i also remember we met a watford fan at paddington train station he missed the train to go and watch them.so we invieted down to the valley with us 3 from glos.had a real good day loads of beer and a good crack.all of a sudden this watford fan started getting really chopsy with us after we spent loads of money on him buying him beer.so we stripped him naked on the train throw all his clothes out of the window and just left him.it was funny at the time but looking back its was pretty bad to thing to do
