Fuck him, ask him if he wants to tear up his contract now and stop paying him, if he doesn’t want to do that, every time he refuses to play while under contract he should be fined two weeks wages,

either way tell him any belongings he has at the ground/training ground will be sent to him and he is to stay away, one less person potentially spreading this disease around the place.

Not sure what the terms were but i assume we've terminated Davis' loan and will no longer be paying his wages?
Thats if we were paying wages... We'd send out an appeal for help on deadline day thanks to Southall / Nimer and their transfer embargo

Wont be surprised if Birmingham were picking up the wages

We've lost Lyle for months to an International injury and for the run-in due to personal preference. Shame really.

Danny Murphy saying that Lyle should be playing, says that Lyle should speak to the club about an Insurance Policy

Has questioned if the club are capable of doing that though

Acknowledges that Taylor is 30 compared to Murphy being 20 when he went from Crewe to Liverpool

Yet says that playing with the fear of injury is not a good place to be in
Insured against losing a contract that doesn’t exist? Sign me up for that policy!
How do you know that there isn't a contract that has already been agreed?
Even if he doesn't have a contract in place an insurance policy could be taken out by the club, in Lyle's favour, covering the earnings that he could expect to receive over the next three years following a move.
Of course, the club won't do that because it doesn't have proper leadership and doesn't have a pot to piss in.
Can't blame Lyle at all and I hope that he gets the move that his talent deserves.

Last summer Taylor was set to leave.  Get a massive contract and be set for life.  For numerous reasons it didn't happen.

Fans still got on his back for being disloyal and a rat.  Then the truth comes out about the "rejected offer" and many feel

If ANY of us were in a position to change our lives forever we would take the chance.  Just a few months later he got an injury that rules him out for 4 months and now Covid.  If that scuppered his chances of this move and he ended his career with a lots of "What' if's" how would he feel?
If he stayed to be at the shambles we have become when he could be living the good life and be at a higher profile club

As much as his stance annoys me it is most certainly understandable.  Good luck

Solly is different - he has been loyal to us though thick and thin.  He's got one or two contracts in him and is out of favour with us so I would guess is off to a new club.  Good luck to him

If Covid-19 has taught us one thing it is to take opportunities when they come your way

I don't know the employment law rules but in the current situation if it's safe to go to work and you refuse would you expect to be sacked?

In Taylors case, or any employee/employer case, I feel you should show some loyalty to an employer who paid you whilst you were unable to work due to injuring yourself whilst working for another company (which your main employer has no control over) and at least fulfil your contractual obligations.

I am deeply disappointed in Taylor's attitude. Not that he'll probably give a shit.

Shame for everyone that he’s gonna leave on a sour note. Can’t blame him personally as I’m pretty sure we’d all do the same. It’s just a shame the way it’s planned out.

seems like he’s gonna get a prem move and good luck to him - without him we wouldn’t be where we are now that’s for sure
    I can blame him personally.
He is a professional footballer under contract to play football for the club that pay his wages.
I don't blame him for wanting to leave the club, but I do blame him for not seeing out his contract.

Will we play a game before his contract expires at the end of June? 1 game maybe, 2 max.

We'll possibly fine him wages for the weeks he refuses to play and that'll be that.

If he's that disinterested, Bowyer is obviously better off planning for all games without him.

Love it if Bowyer is bulshitting and Taylor rocks up v Hull unannounced.
Bowyer has 3 weeks to turn his head back to being a player that wants to play again.
    He's training isn't he?

another thing to blame Roland for. If the prat had given him a decent contract in summer 19 this would be a non issue.
Maybe. Maybe not. Not defending Roland (God forbid) but Taylor saying he would have signed that contract in the summer was a great fan pleasing sound bite but we’ll never know if he actually meant it.

Knowing the sort of club we are, and how things seem to change every single day regarding each crisis we are involved in.....There is a part of me which thinks, and hopes, that there are still a few more twists to come in this story.

Bowyer has gone on the radio to announce this for a reason - probably in the hope that it will make a difference.

I am fed up with the circus that seems to surround Lyle, just get on with your job and play football please.

Clubs with some money are probably busy getting their players on expiring contracts to agree 30 day extensions.

Charlton don't even have the personnel in place, let alone the money!

Strip all the emotion out of it, we’ve been handicapped as a team since October and we’re now about to play a period of games in a short space of time (where we have to do better than others) without our best player and talisman.

It’s not all over, but the list of things to overcome just keeps increasing

It does sound like Bowyer has come out to put pressure on him to play.

I can't imagine Taylor would really care though what fans thought of him. He's set for life and walking into a new club where the fans will love him there instead.

    Disappointed in both

If the season had panned out normally and Taylor told Bowyer he wasn't available for the last 2 games of the season because he had a big move lined up and didn't want to get injured, he's be rightly criticised

And Solly is the club captain. I don't know what his future plans are, but if I was another club I'd be worried about his commitment to the cause

I can see both sides here so will reserve judgment until I know which club we're protecting him for.

Anyone know if Brentford are still most likely? Given the circumstances, you'd think it's a Prem club.

1 month and possibly only 1-2 games before his contract ends on 30 June.

Saw Burnley mentioned over the weekend, Lyle would be ideal in a Dyche side.

Seems to be linked with a new club every day.

Preston, Middlesbrough, Burnley and Rangers are the latest ones i've seen. Even saw Palace mentioned somewhere, that'll go down well.

It annoys me that Lyle can pick and choose when he wants to play, or when he wants to be professional, or when he wants to respect Bowyer, the man who brought him to the club and has supported him through everything. It’s not too much to ask to fulfil your contract and play, even if it is until the end of June. 4 matches is not a lot to ask, when those 4 matches are huge for our club’s future.

I know it will never happen in football, but if someone in any other walk of life refuses to do their job or breaks the agreement in their contract, they will get the consequences from those decisions. In football it doesn’t happen. But maybe not being paid for the remainder of the contract is the way forward. If you won’t fulfil your end of the contract, why should the employer have to?

If he is refusing to play for no valid reason (and not wanting to get injured is absolutely not a valid reason) it is a repudiatory breach of contract. He should not be paid for June and his contract should be terminated with immediate effect.

Hes been sitting on his arse getting paid every week and now refuses to play? Well surely he's in breach of contract.
    What a wanker

It doesn't matter if it's 1-2 or 8-9 games he will miss, he should make himself available to play in any game he is contractually obliged to if fit.
