It’s not all over, but the list of things to overcome just keeps increasing5 -
Disappointed more by the news of Solly rather than Taylor to be honest although clearly Lyle is the bigger loss to the team.
I'd like to hear from the players themselves and their reasons for not playing before making any judgement.10 -
I think Southhall must be his agent !1

Clubs only pay July wages if out of contract and without another club I thought I read somewhere.
Lyle will have another club contract from then I would assume hence not playing. Co-incidently whilst it leaves a sour taste right now, Lyle was part of the team that gave me a fantastic day at Wembley. I will always respect him for the way he got on with this season after Brentford move collapsed and gave his all. Lyle is good at 100%, I am sure he is great at 60/70/80% but if not fully committed as has the nagging worry then his head is not in it. Understandable but majorly disappointing for us as fans.
Solly has been a fantastic servant for the club. His knee(?) injury has caught up with him and played less and less. Matthews has been a suitable deputy. I respect Chris's decision as if he did get another injury then us, and other teams, would not offer another contract. He is probably high risk due to previous history. I don't blame him. He probably will get another chance elsewhere so why risk it, especially if he knows he isn't getting abother contract (we don't know whats been said).
For those saying about Lewis Page and Loans, Page needs to play to prove himself to other clubs if he isn't getting another contract here (who knows) and loanees have contracts at parent clubs hence injury issue not a problem.
Bowyer has done a fantastic job and will do his best with the players wanting to play for Charlton.0 -
Assuming his contract expires on June 30th, it isn’t outside the realm of possibility that Taylor actually ends up playing the last 5-6 games of the season with a different club. Maybe even one that we come up against (Brentford for example).0

We are fooked - can’t see where goals would come from without him - hope I am wrong, but it’s just bad news after bad news at the moment0

Furlough those that don't want to play and on top of that fine them, surely its breach of contract.0

The transfer window is closed - he could not play for another club this season.

Well that money could’ve gone to the business who need it instead of someone who is refusing to fulfil their contract.
Not only that, but players could get injured doing absolutely anything. If you want to look at it another way, Lyle got injured on international duty and missed 14 weeks of the season. He didn’t get injured on our watch. Therefore, he was unable to fulfil his duties with us during that time. Now he wants to refuse to fulfil them and not play, at the risk of getting injured because he is moving elsewhere for 4x the money. Doesn’t that mean he owes us around 16 weeks?
Maybe I am just going on too much, but this really winds me up.7 - Sponsored links:

It's obviously poor form that he's decided not to play.
Definitely in breach of contract for refusing to play before June 30th. However, I doubt the threat of a week or two without pay is going to affect him if he's agreed a decent contract elsewhere.
Over the last few weeks he's done the club a massive favour with his honesty. He's also been fantastic for 80% of the 60 odd games he's played for us. Shame it ends this way but I can forgive him. We're a joke of a club and we've only got ourselves to blame for yet another quality player walking away from the club for free come 1st July.

If the first time he takes a penalty for his new club he does his slow walk up and misses then the healing will begin.24

He may be a better player than most of the rest of our squad, but that doesn't mean a different set of rules should apply to him.
A kick in the teeth to the fans and his own teammates.

Has questioned if the club are capable of doing that though
Acknowledges that Taylor is 30 compared to Murphy being 20 when he went from Crewe to Liverpool
Yet says that playing with the fear of injury is not a good place to be in
Even if he doesn't have a contract in place an insurance policy could be taken out by the club, in Lyle's favour, covering the earnings that he could expect to receive over the next three years following a move.
Of course, the club won't do that because it doesn't have proper leadership and doesn't have a pot to piss in.
Can't blame Lyle at all and I hope that he gets the move that his talent deserves.0 -

Thank you for being mostly professional for the majority of your career, however you are now screwing the club over at a point in which it desperately needs you to play...
Not for fear of Covid, but for fear of injury.
That's not professional, that's not acceptable. It's pretty despicable behaviour in fact.
It's been a ride, and it was great to have you play for us, but since that Injury you haven't been the same and it's clear that you've feared injury may scupper a summer move since returning.
Hopefully Macauley, Andre and Josh can do what you aren't willing to even try.26 -

What a dickhead. One of the most important short periods in our history and he won’t put on the shirt. Undone all his good work. He can fuck off.39

seems like he’s gonna get a prem move and good luck to him - without him we wouldn’t be where we are now that’s for sureI can blame him personally. He is a professional footballer under contract to play football for the club that pay his wages.I don't blame him for wanting to leave the club, but I do blame him for not seeing out his contract.
We'll possibly fine him wages for the weeks he refuses to play and that'll be that.
If he's that disinterested, Bowyer is obviously better off planning for all games without him.0 - Sponsored links:

It’s not too much to ask to fulfil your contract and play, even if it is until the end of June. 4 matches is not a lot to ask, when those 4 matches are huge for our club’s future.
I know it will never happen in football, but if someone in any other walk of life refuses to do their job or breaks the agreement in their contract, they will get the consequences from those decisions. In football it doesn’t happen. But maybe not being paid for the remainder of the contract is the way forward. If you won’t fulfil your end of the contract, why should the employer have to?
If he is refusing to play for no valid reason (and not wanting to get injured is absolutely not a valid reason) it is a repudiatory breach of contract. He should not be paid for June and his contract should be terminated with immediate effect.0 -
Early July Taylor playing for another club.2

from what I have read on here Lyle is saying that he will not play as he might get injured. Now if he was saying that he would not play as he was worried about catching Coronavirus I could understand and accept. But not to honour his contract in case he gets injured is wrong, imagine if every player approaching the end of their contract said I'm not playing in the final few matches - sorry Lyle thought that you were an honourable man - seems not.8

Refusing to play through fear of injury is such a cowards way out, in any normal season he wouldn't have not be able to choose when he plays. Also very surprised at Solly, if he is doing the same as Lyle to protect himself for a move its a disgrace!0

Some massive overreactions on here. Still 3 weeks to go and have only heard one side of the story.
If you put yourself in his shoes. He's been underpaid for a long time, has one last contract until he has to re-train and find something else to do with his life. He knows that if he gets injured for a while then he probably won't get that last contract. I think a lot of those criticising him would probably do the same.
I get the emotional aspect of it but I think calling him a dickhead, a sewer rat and telling him to fuck off is a little unwarranted.22
