purrington was on the bench last game wasnt he?
Yeah he came off the bench in place of Doughty
I would start Doughty again, cant keep dropping kids if they make mistakes. Hes young and yes still learning the game so he will make mistakes but he will improve and hes gonna be a great player in my opinion. LB has to be a bit more patient with the young lads like Alfie and Albie.
Its the older pros like McGeady and Pearce i think LB has been more patient with than i ever would of been if i was manager, which im not but we all like to think we could dont we. I would of dropped McGeady a few weeks ago but TBF he at least looked interested in trying to make something happen against Brum. Im still not a fan of him and im glad hes only a loan player but if he could score a goal tomorrow or even fucking assist, he would go up a slight notch in my rating😄
Where did Alfie make a mistake? Am i missing something? He came off as he was slightly injured and knackered, i have no doubts if he is fit enough he will start over anyone.

In defence he actually made a few, especially in the 1st half and a few times going forward he didnt look up and square it for Hemed i think. He was still one of our best players on the pitch though.

We have to get at least a draw tomorrow, and hope we do as well as the bottom three on the last day

To be fair thats just the truth of the matter, not faith :)

Funnily I am actually a pessimist as well as an optimist, I guess its the things I have no control over that make me the latter

Why worry about it, why be down about it when there is absolutely nothing we can do to change the outcome

Well I hope we give it a good go? 100% effort and a real Charlton performance to be proud of. Our squad always seem so tired and struggling in games compared to other teams. Hope tomorrow is different. Three points would make this season very special. 2-0 Wigan. Typical.

With Huddersfield winning today as far as I am concerned who ever wins at hull tomorrow stays up....was quite pleased a few weeks ago when I saw this fixture but will be our undoing unless we win and they draw....isn't going to happen, we will either lose or draw and Luton will beat them...next year will be a nightmare getting out of that league and to what if we do...

I was hoping Leeds would get promoted on Sunday and all the players go on a two day bender.
That benders happening tonight now so they should be good for Wednesday
    :-(

I'm adamant we are going down now.
The writing has been in the wall for months. The gods are against us.

Huddersfield getting a result tonight confirms it. We are incapable of such a result at the moment.
    Onwards and downwards!

Stick a tenner on Wigan to win and you know we’ll be all right!

Lol I drove past it earlier as some players crossed the road in front of me...and yes it did cross my mind.

My biggest concern is that we looked so leggy against Birmingham. I don't see how we've got a chance against a form team who've had an extra day to prepare. They're going to destroy us in the second half.
    And in the first half.

This is now 'must win' because we'll get nothing at Leeds but how do we win with a toothless attack and midfield?

    I fear we are gone.

Well done Lee for keeping us in contention as long as you have.

Head says it will be 1-1, heart says 2-1 win. Hope Aneke starts. Hemed, although has held the ball up well at times,
has no goal threat whatsoever, doesn't even get in there to miss. At least Aneke and Bonne do get chances.

Could really do with finally getting a full 90 minutes out of Aneke tomorrow, he's the only forward we have capable of carrying the ball as well as holding it up. Hemed managed the 90 minutes against Millwall and couldn't be involved at Brentford, but think we're at that point now where we can't worry about the next game, it's shit or bust

That is all we needed to do Birmingham who are a worse team than Wigan.
    So not so simple

I don't believe that anything but a loss will happen, and that we will go down (just made more elaborate predictions on the 'league table talk' thread).

However this is football. We have to hope that they get a man sent off and/or we get a dodgy penalty and/or they get the shits and/or they get cocky after winning 8-0 and/or their goalkeeper lets the ball slip under his foot and/or their defender slips at a crucial moment and/or they get news about not getting paid just before the match and/or they hit the bar and post 8 times but can't score and/or they score an own goal and/or we get a lucky deflection

What we need is the Wigan players to hit the Bexleyheath nightlife, and due to breaking Covid protocol, 15 of their squad are banned

Since lockdown there have been regular "shock" results, whether it's down to a fancied team having a mare, or the Gods being in favour of the less fancied team

So far in our 7 games, we haven't really had such a result, maybe it'll be our turn tomorrow or Wednesday
