Not sure why Bowyer wouldn’t start Chuks and Williams. Think he over plays this they aren’t fit enough thing sometimes. Picking Davison in a match of this magnitude has a bit of a feel of when Powell picked Joe Piggot vs. Millwall. We must hope he somehow finds a performance like the one he put in against West Brom, but seeing as we’ve not exactly been scoring hats full of goals and until
now Bows hasn’t even seen fit to bring Josh off the bench - this seems a bit of a desperate move.

Good luck though Josh, I hope you have us all eating humble pie by full time.

Baffled at him dropping/resting McGeady, thought he had one of his best games for us the other night.

Also don't see how Davison warrants a start ahead of Aneke. Guess he must feel Aneke is better as an impact sub.
If we are going to use subs, and we will, then a fresh McGeady coming on will have more impact. Bonne has scored 10 goals in his first EFL season and straight into the championship not L1 or L2. He needs somebody up there with him that can run around a lot, make then opposition defence work a bit harder and create openings. Davison has shown in his previous cameo appearances that he is that type of player.

Josh is physical and will press.  Pigott had nothing

Very happy Field starts again - breaks up play brilliantly. Another one of those players whose legs seem to extend that bit further to win the ball back

Why Davison now? He hasn't even brought him off the bench suddenly he's starting in our one must-win game?

Thought Aneke was brilliant the other night. What's he got to do to start.

Looks defensive, think bowyer is hoping to get to 60 mins at 0-0 then bring on Williams, aneke and Morgan to try to win the game. Dangerous tactics because Wigan could be out of sight by then but hope it pays off!

Head says 0-3 loss, BUT my great big Charlton heart say just enough to get us over the line.
Good luck boys... and with a lump in my throat,  COME ON YOU REDS!

Glad to see Naby in, not sure on Davison though, 1-1 is my prediction.

Yeah not sure about this line up. Not sure who will be creating the goals but then again that wasn't happening before either.

Seems harsh on Aneke not to start him. Has made a proper contribution off the bench over the last few games.
  • The thing that concerns me is the amount of chopping and changing. It suggest that Bowyer really doesn't know his best team or formation.

In a game like this, i feel it'd make more sense to go with experience like Williams and McGeady, not changing formation and chucking a kid in there who hasn't played for ages.

Let's hope his gamble pays off today.

Happy to see JFC start I think he's a bit underrated and is a good player.

Not sure on Davisson, but he did alright when he played earlier in the season

Apart from McGeady; JFC is the one midfielder who'll get you goals

Desperation.  Utter desperation. Davison should have had game time before now. But to throw him in to the shit or bust game just shows how desperate we are.

Charlton v Wigan: Phillips, Matthews, Lockyer, Pearce, Sarr, Doughty, Cullen, Field, Forster-Caskey, Bonne, Davison. ..

Bowyer's gone for the grafters, the hard workers, he's gone for some added height in Sarr .. 3 at the back + wing backs  .. let's hope that Sarr doesn't 'freeze' during this vital game .. Davison can do no worse than the recent selections up front .. come on youse Addicksssss ((:>)

    Indeed.

Davison, Bonne, Field, Lockyer, Pearce, Sarr all in the box.

One of Forster-Caskey or Cullen taking the corner/edge of the box.

Doughty and Matthews staying back a bit to prevent the counter.

Agreed, don’t get it. Aneke hasn’t done much wrong. Supposedly totally unfit but played 90 mins vs Reading and finished the match strongly. Do not get why he’s on the bench.

Missing the point. The comparison isn’t between the two players the comparison is between managers throwing raw youngsters in at the deep end in a huge fixture.

Reminds me of the Pigott start against Millwall. Let’s hope it doesn’t have the same outcome
  • Coyr. Dare we dream of 3 points.............Nope just not the Charlton way. I'll take a point tbh.
