Sarr to Coventry ?

Every time I see Naby I think of the lovely Katrien Meire. So it a big fat yes from me.3

Who'd have thought that, in 2020, we would lose both players who scored at Wembley in 2019?0
-
He's a good fit for us and importantly the manager wants him.
Notwithstanding any of that I don't see us being in a position to attract anyone significantly better with his versatility so 'better the devil you know.'0 -
Sarr to me is an automatic pick if we go 3 at the back, probably less so if part of a 2, where a club like us probably needs out and out defenders

If we had a bit of cash we'd need to invest in a CB alongside Lockyer. But I'd be happy with Sarr and Deji as the back up options for next season. Not quite sure Pearce is up it.0

19/20 Transfer Window - Bauer leaves
Sarr and Purrington still here.
Sarr could be gone, but Purrington is still in contract.3 -

For the record I'm not anti Sarr. He has blinders but also has some shockers. On the left side of 3 CBs he is comfortable but when he was partnered Lockyer in a 2 instead of Pearce he was exposed.
Yes his distribution is good at times but he has no pace at all, isn't great in the air and gets bullied. Not sure any of that can be argued with.

I don't think he was exposed at all when partnered by Lockyer, that Millwall game aside. There was a game against Preston where he was subbed off because he did some ill-advised ball-juggling and had to take a yellow, but it was Pearce and his grubby hands that actually lost us that one1 -

Goalkeeper | Defence
Leave alone apart from bringing in a backup Right-Back and Left-Back (as wouldnt see Page staying regardless)
Midfield
Would bring McGeady back on a perm deal, try and get Field on loan again
Cullen is the main replacement seeing he's been here for two years now
Find someone to replace Conor Gallagher
Strikers:
See if we can get Leko back
Replace the judas of course with two other Strikers of similar style
Its frustrating we've been dealt this hand as apart from replacing the loan signings, Gallen's job should have been so much easier this term compared to the last two summers
Yes there are a few players out of contract or approaching their last year that need dealing with but certainly shouldnt have needed the recruitment drive we saw ahead of this season
Just need that little bit more quality in the team that can push us a bit further up the table each season before we can compete at the top of the League0 - Sponsored links:

The Nabster is one of the members of this squad that I’d shed a tear for if he left. There are probably half a dozen others.6

Sarr could potentially be a regular in a side that does well in this league. In a better team he’d get on the ball more where he could use his passing ability and he wouldn’t be under as much pressure defensively.
I don’t see that potential with Pearce or Oshilaja. Lockyer possibly, but alongside Sarr you might want a more powerful CB who’s quicker and stronger in the air. Not saying Lockyer’s poor in those areas, but I don’t think a side chasing the top 6 will have him at the top of their shortlist.

Naby Sarr, Mr Inconsistent.
He missed in the penalty shootout in the playoff semi-final, scored an own goal in the final.
Then this season he has run the length of the pitch to score a tap in, and oh that last minute equaliser at QPR!
He's been there in the highs and lows. He IS the highs and lows. Proper Charlton is Naby. And what a great redemption story his career with us has been.
Like others have mentioned, he'd been one of the few players I'd be devastated to see go.

Good luck to him wherever he gets his next job - he'll get a warm welcome from me back at the Valley, if we ever have that privilege. I'd love him to stay but the chance he's fallen in love with the place and is prepared to stay with all the attendant risk to his career has to be minuscule. Opting for Coventry would suggest an extraordinary masochism given their ownership omnishambles.
In 27 years I can't remember a player with such a huge disparity between his best and his worst.
Wasn't his fault he was nowhere nearly good or experienced enough when roly and his malignant clusterfuck dumped him into the Valley and paid him a then decent championship salary. He looked absolutely pony in that company. He delivered some of the most terrifying performances I've yet seen at any level.
It wasn't his fault that he was paid many many times what he was ever worth at 3rd division level.
He disappeared from view for the better part of 2 years, including a whole season in the French third division, which must have been worlds away from the standards he'd struggled with in England.
What set him apart from the majority was his determination to improve, learn and his acceptance he needed to redress the balance, for a situation not really of his making.
Since his return in 2018 he has never completely shaken off his capacity for monumental howlers but he has greatly reduced their frequency. His confidence has been much more robust. I doubt he'll ever be a regular top flight defender but he's currently head and shoulders above his centre back colleagues when bringing the ball forward, seeing and making passes (apologies that is the feintest of feint praise). We've been much better with him in the side since the restart.
Au revoir Naby, je te souhaite bonne chance mon ami. J'espere te revoir a l'avenir.6 -

He's never been played in central midfield and so we've never seen the best in him.1 -
The epitome of a cult player really, with his mixture of sublime moments - TAA or De Bruyne would be proud of his assist for Taylor at Forest or the similar pass to set up Bonne on Saturday - with some awful howlers2

I do think he gets some unnecessary stick still but perhaps I'll rephrase 'Top European' to 'much higher level' if he didn't have those errors in him.
