    This is a huge one. I've had more than one manager tell me that in order to progress I need to think more strategically,  when in fact the only 'strategic thinking' they ever did was thinking about how to crowbar the word 'strategic' into every other sentence. 

    I usually say to managers "in order to progress you need to think".

    I stop it there, no need to add 'more strategically'.
