Lyle Taylor - August 2025 signed for Chelmsford City (p295)

Life changing contract is a nice phrase. I prefer that to life changing move
I don't hate him but once he had left, I realised just how much of his personality I found false and did not like, but saw past as he was our main man.
On a funny note, he's been rumbled (or outed) by the media, the fans now don't exist in the stadium to feed his ego and he has become very boring and samey.1 -
Mendonca, you make a good point about the lack of a crowd affecting Lyle and his large ego on a football field. I wonder if Taylor is suffering more than most because after being a bit part Journeyman footballer until he was 27 and signed for Wimbledon where the Lyle Taylor baby chant started.
He certainly got the adrenaline rush from being the star of the show.
The paradox is, he now has the money but is back in the chorus line instead of being the leading man.
It's a funny old game.3 -

There is definitely something out of the normal about him. What I mean is if you look at his career, he wasn't widely known before he joined us and he was 29 years old. When we saw him play, most of us probably wondered why that was!
I suppose he is a player we can't really second guess. And given his club record, he doesn't stay in the same place too long.0 -
All he had to do was just play 3 games.
He didn't like or respect Charlton enough to do that.
His refusal to play in any of the games was not a life changing decision.
It meant he wasn't match fit.
If he played the 3 games....he would have been more sharp for Nottingham forest this season. It would have helped him!
He could have just used the 3 games for the best of both worlds.
Pre season fitness! And help the club that did so much for him!
He's an unprofessional bottle job.
I thought he was the opposite of that and a great person/potential Charlton legend...last year.8 -
Can someone comment on his insta for me? Please ask him how big school is going.
I would do it myself but the career journeyman has blocked me.7 -
I really don't think he'll care that much, if he cared more about football and less about money we'd not have had this issue.
Yes Forest are doing badly so far but he's still got his £3-4m contract.2 -

If he went in the stocks for a week (remember Tiswas ) and apologize for not playing the 3 games when still under contract then why wouldn't you want a guy who was brilliant for Cafc and could get us promoted.
It won't happen because Charlton fans do hate big time and Taylor has burnt his bridges. Lyle saw through Matthew Southall for the shyster he was. I'm still amazed that some normally sharp CL posters didn't realize until the window shut that MS was a wrong'un.
Lyle Taylor made a mistake in not playing till the end of his contract. I'm still gutted for Cafc, but also gutted for him because the goals, assists and good things he does off the pitch has been erased from memory.

They train there I'm told.1 -

I honestly think he is a really top class manager.1 -

99.9% would have made the move. No issue with that at all. It’s the breaking of contract mid-relegation battle which is where I think that number comes down enormously.....35

Taylor would have his people in his ear saying if you get injured you could fuck your one big payday up .
This is where a proper club with some leadership pays £100k for a £4m insurance policy to cover Lyle Taylor in the unprecedented times we were in to play out the last 9 games .
I'm up for the job Thomas .
cancel that , imagine having to deal with our cry baby fan base ... Thomas will see that soon enough when things don't go as hoped .6 -

ElfsborgAddick said:Breaks his leg in the 3 games and no life changing move.
You could apply this to every player all the time.
Dougherty should stop turning out for us as he might break a leg and ruin a life changing move to Celtic.
Bonne should stop turning out for us as he might break his leg and ruin a life changing move to QPR
Levitt should stop turning out for us as he might break his leg and ruin his future chances of playing for United's first team.
Baker should stop turning out for us as he might break his leg and ruin his development and end his career at 17
Etc etc22 -
