For any player to score 20+ goals in a league 1 (or any league season) they have got to be at least 2 of these things:

    Be very good
Play in a very good team
    Play almost every game

Are any of our "fab 4" are the first one, or we are the second one?  It's to early to tell.

I would be supprised if any of them start every game.   If they score 50 goals between them, which isn't impossible, isn't that the same as having 2 20 goal a season strikers plus 10 from their understudy?

Good post, and as you say too early to tell either of
your three selections of criteria, so no one can expect
a player to reach the "holy grail" of 20.
But as per my post, Bowyer and all of us can hope that
is possible, but at the same time expect at least one
of the, at least to reach near that figure.
So, let's just hope that all of our "fab 4" indeed do
aspire to each of your criteria, and if i may add a fourth.

Be part of a team gaining promotion  :)
  • Looking at the Enobakhare video again I'd guess that this is how Bowyer is planning on developing Aneke.

Maybe if Bogle hadn't of come in we'd make more of an effort to sign him (assuming we don't as per Bow's words).

  • We go on about a 20 goal a season striker, however i would suggest it is a far better option to have a number of players all chipping in then relying on just one goal scorer. If Lyle had got injured 2 years ago we likely wouldn't have been promoted.

Time will tell if we have the right players to all chip in but i wouldn't get hung up on the fact that none are likely to score 20.
But you can only say that because he didn't get injured.  Unless he specifically got injured after January.

If Taylor had done his ACL instead of JFC we would probably have got a striker on loan instead of Cullen.  That striker could have scored none or 30.

Any 3 of the strikers we started that season could have got 20+ goals, if like Taylor, they had played most of the games.

You have to admit, it's much more likely that you've got wrong information this time than LB is lying to Cawley

I also cannot fathom why we'd sign a fifth striker (sixth if you can't Davison) when we only have one specialist RB. It just doesn't make sense. And that's basically what Lee's just alluded to.
Or he was still in discussion with a striker, but has shifted focus.

It was the same situation a week ago, and LB's quote again, was "we ain't been speaking about a striker."

Why are so many posters intent on knocking Redhenry, when he is only passing on info he has received?
Nobody has knocked him, it just seems more than likely he's got wrong info this time.

As I said you’re allowed your opinion and as you’ve pointed out that’s one of the beauties of the game that it’s all opinions. That’s fine. But please don’t devalue my post back because I’ve backed it up with stats that are still very relevant to each individual. What was the need to bring up Driesen?
I don't mean to get into a row. I only asked what the value of team stats as a marker for individual performance is. Is that not a fair question?

If you thought I was comparing you to Driesen, I really wasn't. My meaning was this growing idea that stats can answer everything.

Bad manager. The stats are not very good, you need to improve.
Good manager. The stats are not very good, I wonder why that is?
  • If only one 20 goal scorer in league 1 last year no club that hot promoted then had a 20 goal plus scorer.
This year Cambridge have one on 10 already. His best ever before was 7 or 8 in a year. So spotting them isn't that easy .
That is pretty much the only way of getting a 20+ goal a season striker in League One, taking a punt on somebody who has never achieved it before and hoping you get lucky. Taylor got 22 in 44 league games for us. He had never scored more than 14 league goals in a season at league one or higher level before that.

See I think Chuks will have a similar season to that of Taylor as he’ll get so much supply.
  • Impressive from Shrewsbury, they've signed Charlie Daniels (ex-Bournemouth defender)
Another free agent signed up on a short term deal till January, guess there'll be a lot more like that over the next couple of weeks

I thought he was off to Georgia.....

This shows that some free agents may be prepared to drop their salary aspirations to obtain a club.

We could 'trial' someone until January. It is a buyers market.

Not knocking Redhenry, people lose their minds when he posts, he gets just as much dud info as he does the good stuff but everyone seems to expect what he says is nailed on but then lol every other ITK. I mean the manager has just said we're not looking at a striker but RH is still getting @ asking when the forward is signing.

It's having a giggle at people drawing up lists of 7 names that are signing tomorrow while under a transfer embargo and wage cap, rather than RH passing on what he's heard.

    NOUN
    1. a person or thing that proves ineffectual or a failure

    ADJECTIVE
failing in its purpose or function

Yeah I know derailing the thread but hey ho, didn't want to give out a dud statement earlier.

sounds like the striker wouldn't take a large pay cut and they are looking elsewhere.
Shame, I had hoped he’d be a good player. Think he should take the contract personally, in today’s market.
