  • Been out so will follow the rest of the game on here with Sky Sports News on the TV. Well pleased for Jonny! As I turned the TV on the right showed Shinnie had scored (Andrew's brother Graeme at Derby) and that Tony Watt had a goal for Motherwell. and Josh Davison for Woking has just come up as well. Very Charltonised today.
  • Been quite a decent first half... Portsmouth have slightly edged it with their attacking play but Amos hasnt been tested apart from that one effort Curtis blazed over

Understandably we've not been attacking as much but we look really dangerous going forward when we do

Forster-Caskey is getting back to his old self with every game that he plays, Pratley whilst lucky to be on the pitch has really shown his experience that a lot of teams appear to be lacking at this level; Bogle continues to divide opinion, not sure if he'll get into double figures but again he's getting better for me the more he plays, doesnt quite have the same brute strength that Aneke has, but still has enough of it to cause more problems for the Portsmouth defence than what Washington is doing

Would like to see Aneke and Smyth at some stage as reckon those two with their strength and pace respectively could really frighten what looks a fragile back line for them

So many conflicting comments on Bogle!
    The new Leaburn
As someone who never saw Leaburn play, I wanted to make the comment that this is what I imagined he was like to watch but was frightened I’d be struck down by the Leaburn fan club. Is the comparison accurate in any way?
  • Decent match. Our defence has struggled a bit with the boggy conditions down that end (in front of the away end), hopefully we can exploit that in the second half
  • Excellent first half performance.

Special praise for Gunter. To come in and play a role he is not used to and then do it so well is brilliant.

But not a bad performance from anyone.

Just one thing. We're not man city and that pitch is obviously not playing true so stop playing around so much at the back. I can see trouble ahead if we keep doing that.
  • All these biased refs not booking our players, how did Pratley get away with that challenge
  • Be interesting to see what if anything Lee does at half time,
Portsmouth are bound to be getting a blasting, so need to
be on our metal first 15 mins

Have looked a little shaky at the back, I'm not sure if that's because Portsmouth have been the best attacking side we've faced or because we're missing Iniss, probably both.

Much prefer watching a four in midfield which has looked a lot more controlling in the middle, looks a lot more natural for the players we've put in there

and Josh Davison for Woking has just come up as well. Very Charltonised today.
That's another goal for Davison. He scored last weekend as well for Woking. Doing well.

  • Josh Davison on target for Woking
  • HT Addicks lead 1-0.

Good goal from Willo after lovely work on the left from Maatsen.

Pompey have had plenty of ball around our box but apart from one shot that was blazed over from 10 yards out they haven't really had a clear chance.

No-one's had a bad game for us. Defence has been solid and stood firm, and Shinnie has been my MotM thus far.

Bogle appears to have divided opinion this afternoon/season but he's done well in my opinion: he's held up the ball well, shew a wonderful bit of skill in turning and nutmegging a Pompey defender in the box and was unlucky not to get a penalty as a result (although that was probably a trade-off for Old Man Prats not seeing red for a reckless challenge earlier).

He might not score many goals for us but I think Bogle's play will open the door for others to capitalise and, just as importantly, he is the first line of our defence.

We're looking comfortable and I expect us to stay that way.

We'll see this one out with another clean sheet.

    In Lord Bowyer we trust.

What formation have we been playing?  Is pratley in defence or midfield?
Everywhere around that area between Midfield and Defence... Drops back between Gunter and Famewo when needed

Think every single one of them is having at least a decent game.

I think I’ve seen enough of them to confidently say we’ll be up there this season. We look better than the 18/19 team in places and still have players to get fit. They’ll get better as the season goes on as well.
  • An example of how passing stats can be misleading, is that JFC has made a lot of ambitious passes today. 50% have come off, one leading to the goal, but he has also given the ball away more than if he just played a safe sideways pass

I wasnt overly paying attention to the replays yet the VP Commentary team said a few times that Pratley didnt appear to touch their player

Anyone know if this was the case? - Can only imagine that the referee thought that himself

Pratley looks as if he can charm the birds off the trees when he puts his mind to it.
    Slippery pitch ref...obvs.

We need Watson to take the field each week wearing a Pratley shirt, that way he might avoid picking up his tenth booking before mid-December.

The intent was surely worth a booking though? Maybe the ref was lenient because of the wet conditions

Although, Killer ..... if JFC had played only safe passes, he wouldn't have hit that great long ball to Maatsen, leading to the goal.

At the very least the Old Man should have had a yellow for a reckless challenge, regardless of whether contact was made.

Leaburn once went about 300 games without scoring.
    Well it felt like it.
Bogle has a long way to go to get to that legendary status.
