The time has come.....for me to leave the match-thread and chill with Curbs and Minto. We have way too many know-it-alls these days who just dampen the mood.

Personally it's Pratley I am really most worried about. I think he encompasses all that is good about us, but also all that is bad.

Albie has more pace, and the ability to drive the play forwards after defensive phases. I worry with Pratley back in the team with a centre midfield of two, we might end up passing the ball aimlessly around the back again.

Pratley is a score of important goals - he isn't all about defending.

What am I missing with Smyth? I think he’s been alright
Watson's been injured, Gilbey's on the bench, Bogle has been moved down to his more suitable position as sub since Schwartz came in. Got to go after someone
Don’t comment on a player on a fans’ forum; that’s the rule.

Good to see Shinnie back in the team

Yeah if I was Ferguson I'd be telling Dembele and Clarke-Harris to get in his face and put him under endless pressure - The ball will go backwards and it'll either go long (in which case he has to put faith in his defence coping with Bogle) or it wont reach the recipient because their two players mentioned have been sharp enough to read and intercept the ball

Weird how all our fans are moaning on Twitter about this line-up. They've previously been all 'phwoar that looks amazing' about patently unbalanced lineups. This team has players in correct positions
If you just read the reaction on there tonight you'd think we were playing our U16s. Weird.

Think this could be a 4-2-3-1 with Pratley and JFC sitting in front of the back four with Washington wide left, Millar through the middle and Smyth wide right.
More likely than the 4-4-2/4-2-4 that I’ve been seeing that most are expecting. Washington plays on the wing often for his country so it would make sense here.

Just the Pearce thing, I don't get it, keep a clean sheet, change the defence unnecessary.
And yet Bowyer has repeatedly been moaned at on here for square pegs in round holes...

I had no issue with either Gunter or Pearce @ Centre-Back - But does need some perspective at the same time, Bowyer has a Centre-Back available so as per recent weeks on here, should be playing a Centre-Back there
    Yeah I appreciate that pal.

Weve conceded 16 or something in last 7 games Pearce has played.
We then keep a clean sheet and he's straight back in.

If it goes to form we concede 2 tonight minimum.

I honestly honestly hope I'm wrong

    Gunter isn't a CB

You can't complain about Bowyer playing players out of position if you're then going to ask him to do exactly that.

Gunter has cost us more goals at CB this season than Pearce.
IMO I'd rather has Smyth CB

Joke BTW but see my comment above, 7 games and 16 conceded with him playing.

Indeed, as I mentioned, he encompasses all that is good about us. He desire to get on the ball in both boxes, his ability to break up play, his reading of the game.

However alongside this we have played some absolute turgid football with him in the team, which leads to us constantly being on the back foot.

for those saying we don't need another striker, just sit back and watch this then tell me after that i'm not right
    LMAO

Playing against a team that have been conceding on average 1 goal per game...

Washington is due another goal, so I'll change my prediction of Peterborough 0-2 Charlton 0-1 and Washington to score it.

And only played alongside another Centre-Back in one of them...?

I'm just pointing out that people have called for balance in the team, Bowyer is giving it to them

This is why I dont like to criticise Bowyer; Had he gone with one natural CB tonight and we lose 4-0 then you just know where the complaints would come from - If he starts Pearce and we lose 4-0 tonight then it'll be why didnt Gunter start!!
  • Curbs is class isn’t he (and Minto) - love watching their chat - good memories there - totally agree with Curbs, Gatts and especially Nelse were superb signings - clearly Curbs not in agreement to sell Robert Lee !!!

I don’t hate the inclusion of Pearce as much as some. This is a game where we’ll be on the back foot more often. I’d rather have an experienced leader like Pearce in there for this type of game compared to a RB playing out of position.

Matthews Gunter Oshilaja Maatsen made more sense at Bristol Rovers where we are expected to dominate for large periods of the game. Playing at Peterborough who score goals for fun is a different type of challenge though. Horses for courses.

Focussing on the positives: really pleased to see Shinnie back on the bench and JFC keeping his place in the side - has looked quality in recent games

Cue a Pearce fuck up in the first half a Bogle get "tugged off" at half time?
  • Wonder where Maynard-Brewer is... Injured with a splinter in his bum?

Wonder if we'll revert to more of a diamond with Williams and Shinnie coming on into the second half

Exactly. Just play him wide in midfield and not as a wing back or in the front 2 and he is fine at this level.

Bowyer awaiting confirmation from DOUCHER as to the team he’s allowed to pick
"Has @killerandflash commented yet, he's the only person who knows what he's talking about?"
