Their card has such a ridiculous look to it. It's as if Rohit (161) was playing a different game to most of the others0
-
The 12th man seemed to think that Foakes had two left feet. How insulting!0
-
You just couldn't resist it could you 😊Addick Addict said:Foakes makes keeping look so easy. It's not reactive but pro active, Has the modern way of the hands go first and then the feet.
Now, at the risk of upsetting Canters, Blackpool et al, I would really love to see Buttler at 6 and Foakes keeping the gloves at 7. And they know what that means for Messrs Pope and Burns!!!!2 -
Sorry omitted to mention you too lolwraylolwray said:

Fascinated to see how we bat on this track and really don’t want play to finish at lunchtime :-(0

Ouch, that must have hurt but he was determined not to show it.0

Great day's test cricket between two good sides
India were favourites to win after winning the toss and batting first.
They are still clear favourites despite a spirited day by England.
3 spinners for India will be relentless.2 -
There was an absolutely astonishing one in the T20 between Pakistan and SA yesterday, with the Pakistani 3rd umpire clearly going very, very far out of his way to prove he wasn't showing any home biasCafc43v3r said:That is two of the worst bits of TV umpiring I have ever seen.
It's so bad it's got to be deliberate?

Thought stone bowled very well today and root looked much more effective than moeen
Batting looked very easy mid afternoon but it won't be easy for a new player coming to the crease. Partnerships and application will be key
Again toss was crucial and 350 is going to be a very good total on this wicket...I hope Crawley and Lawrence do get starts as it will be interesting to see how they play the Indian bowlers.England will need contributions from all batsmen if they are going to compete3 -
What is that @leuth ? was that given as a stumping?Leuth said:

Apart from being the better keeper anyway, it's notable that Foakes brings a lot more energy to the field
Most keepers are hyperactive, sometimes irritating characters, encouraging the bowlers, annoying the batsmen, whereas Buttler is a bit silent out there1 -
Yet Buttler is meant to be captain material... apparently. Although I think being great mates with root is all the qualifications you need for that.killerandflash said:Apart from being the better keeper anyway, it's notable that Foakes brings a lot more energy to the field

He was dropped for bowling poorly and not making any runs . Today, he bowled poorly bar a handful of good deliveriesChizz said:
He can hardly be blamed for not scoring many runs or taking many wickets in games in which he hadn't played though.wmcf123 said:

In his antepenultimate Test, he bowled England to a big win (by 232 runs) in the West Indies (4-36 and 3-99). The last Test he played in India, he scored 146 and 40. He's taken more Test wickets in India than any other spinner still playing Test cricket for England. He's scored more Test runs in India than any other player still playing cricket for England, other than Ben Stokes and Joe Root.wmcf123 said:
Is it ? When did Moeen last bowl or bat well in a test ?cantersaddick said:
So looks like Broad in for Anderson and one of Stone/Woakes to replace Jof.
Moeen for Bess is the right call.0 -
The humiliating dismissal of arrogant Kholi justified Moeen's selection on its ownwmcf123 said:

We won’t make 2501

In one or two innings?oohaahmortimer said:We won’t make 2503 -
280 with a rapid 38 from Moeen as the wickets fall around him.oohaahmortimer said:We won’t make 2501 -
329 all out.
Olly Stone has pace and accuracy.
If Stone can stay fit then Archer has a rival for the X factor bowler.
Ali takes 4 wickets and goes for runs.2 -

0-1 Ishant Sharma on the money.
Rory Burns becomes the 5th duck in this match.0 -
A couple of nice early shots from Sibley in between a hairy moment or two.0
-
15-1, 5 overs
Sibley 15
Lawrence 00 -
329 for India and no extras
I wonder what the record is for the highest test score recorded without extras1 -
So a new record woohoo0 -
Well that's a bit unlucky for Sibley... 16-20
-
Do well to make 200 here
Root or bust0 -
16-2 Sibley (16) pad then back of bat.0
-
206-221 the spread on England’s runs0
-
Yet again both openers are out cheaply and Root is in earlier than the number 4 should be.
Burns has now scored 53 runs in his last 7 innings and 33 of those came in one of them. I did say that we needed to give Burns this and the next Test to get a score but he has still not cured that fundamental flaw that keeps getting him out. If Burns fails again in the second innings and Lawrence does well in either should the latter be dropped for Crawley? Because Crawley needs to come back in the next Test doesn't he?
