    As an addendum to this thread and how the temperature immediately above grass can be quite different to the air temperature measured at 1.2m and quoted in weather forecasts, in the early hours of last Friday morning (19th) the days minimum air temperature was recorded as +4.4C.  At the same time the minimum grass temperature was recorded as -1.1C, a difference of 5.5C over 1.2m of height.

    Our pitch must be in the bottom five for the Division? (I can only go by highlights of away games on TV).

    Are there seriously any other League One pitches as bad/worse?

    Getting rid of pigeons is relatively easy……get a local falconer to come in on a regular basis once or twice a week and also put up a couple of model decoy peregrines or sparrow hawks that will help immensely.
    It also eradicates pigeon shit in the stands and stairways.

    Don't they usually advertise The Valley pitch for use in the close season...I might apply, I need somewhere to grow me spuds and seasonal veg... ;)
