    Maybe because they lost to Barnsley on the last day, last season. I must admit that I cursed them for that at the time, but I'm not so bitter now.

    Lost half a day's pay going for an interview for a job there (maternity cover) which subsequently went to the son of a mate of the chairman.

    Perfectly possible he was much better than me, but I don't want to think that might be true

    McCarthy doesn't strike me as the sort of Manager who spends all week talking about the opposition, working on different shapes, trying players in different positions or constantly changing the starting line up.

    He does strike me as the sort of bloke who would be extremely straight talking, evaluate what he has in his squad, get them playing to their strengths and stick with them until he really needs to change things.

    6 wins from 6 matches in 19 days and no less than nine players starting each and every one of those matches. But we're told the modern footballer can't handle that. That they need constant resting and rotating and you'll never get results doing that.

    That's a ridiculous goal, he's almost in the centre circle when he hits it. 99 times out of 100 that's going nowhere near the goal.

    Southend making a good fight for survival though. Their last 3 away games, Newport 6th - won, Cambridge top - drew, Forest green 2nd - won.

    Just watched the Quest show and the Southend manager admitted it was wind assisted, he said to the players at HT, shoot as we have the wind behind us.

    Possibly but at 1-0 they are still very much in it. Although Norwich, when they have gone in front this season have won 18 and drawn 2!
