  • Thanks for updates

Not been able to watch much of this tournament. Robertson is my fave so pleased for him. He looked pretty awesome in the frames I saw in the Selby match and Ronnie very complimentary re this match.

Hopefully he can play like this in the worlds.
  • If Robertson can perform like he did in this tournament there is no reason why he cannot win the world championship.
  • he was top notch. some of the best snooker i've seen from him.
  • I missed alot of this, thank you for the updates.

Always great to see Ronnie or Robbo come away with the W, slightly annoying Ronnie got a lesson but still i do like Robbo so i'll give him that, apparently flawless, surely he is going to get another World Championship. thought he fell away a bit but in good form so could use it.

  • World Championship Snooker qualifiers started yesterday, Jimmy White v Stephen Hendry was the feature game. Hendry won 6-3, although still a tough ask will need to win 3 more matches to make it through. Also Reanne Evans lost to Andy Hicks at the first stage.

    For a preview see Snookerbacker

Hendry next plays tomorrow v Xu Si best of 11 730pm KO again, last nights i could only watch on a betting site but i know it was on the eurosport player(online)

Ken Doherty plays today at 930oam v Lee Walker
  • Hendry coming out of retirement just long enough to lose Jimmy White his tour card.

Couldn't have trolled him better if he tried.

Given the standard last night I can't see Hendry getting much further.

I agree, also its tough going for anyone to get through 4 pre-qualifying rounds. I would love to see it, but reckon he probably loses the next one. I dont feel like he has played enough competitive games to be match sharp, he played ok yesterday but needs to get to the next level the next game. Jimmy had a real off day, although there was one real nice clear up(6th or 7th Frame i forget) where he needed to clear up and got a 60+ to win, that was class.
  • Hendry said he doesn't expect to get through this year because he hasn't played enough. He is targeting next season.
  • Ken Doherty lost 6-4 yesterday to Lee Walker, shame he looked good early doors, i was half going to look at his odds to qualify but i couldn't whilst he was playing, thankfully...

Hendry 730 tonight, a much tougher opponent in Xu Si. I would be surprised if he wins (pleasantly) again i feel Eurosport missed a trick as they have online only, most likely i will watch it via betting sites
  • The final of the World Championship is set to be played in front of a capacity crowd at the Crucible Theatre in May.

The return of fans will be staggered throughout the Sheffield tournament, and will start at 33% capacity.

World Snooker says face coverings will be required in the venue but social distancing "will not be expected" as the number of fans increases.

  • 16 yo Robbie Mcguigan is currently 3-0 up vs Mitchell Mann, on selected bookies site. He is the son in law for Mark Allen who recently split with his partner but i have heard alot of good things. Also on the other table Ben Mertens (I think @paulie8290 was raving about) is 3nil up, also 16. Still only qualifying rounds 1 until this evening but it would be good to see them both progress and ones to watch in the future.
  • Are the qualifiers televised or streamed anywhere?

Are the qualifiers televised or streamed anywhere?
Not on mainstream bud, they are on eurosport player (online only) which you can pay for, i mostly just pick up from Bet 365 which seems to be showing most of them.

I know previous years showdown day(final day) has been streamed on facebook, such a shame they cant get it onto Eurosport or even BBC

Don't you have to pay to sign up/subscribe? just might be worth giving the heads up when people can watch for free on other means, also sometimes they pop up on Facebook/youtube if you are looking.
  • Ok so i kind of jynxed the two young men, Mertens losing from 5-1 up and Robbie 6-5 loss aswell. A shame but no doubt good experiance.

Hendry lost 6-1 as predicted, but i saw this year was more of a warm up and next year he will be trying alot harder as he didn't have the match practice, hopefully his chapter isn't closed just yet.

noone of note to mention today, but ill keep an eye on results. Still on Qualifying round 2 so 3 matches still to win for most to get to the Crucible.
  • Jimmy White has been given an invitational tour card for the next two seasons on the World Snooker Tour

Not a fan of this, i get it just i dont feel they should have endless invitations for a tour card.I dont feel he has earnt it, equally the same with Reanne and the women that have been given spots.
  • JUDGEMENT DAY 1

Todays 8 games, will be spread over 2 sessions, best of 19, I think youtube + facebook cover these every year. failing that if you want to get a specific game sometimes best to check betting sites.

    Zhou Yuelong v Liam Highfield
    Matt Selt v Scott Donaldson
    Robert Milkins v Kurt Maflin
    Lu Haotain v Chang Bingyu
    Graeme Dott v Tian Pengfei
    Jamie Jones v Li Hang
    Lu Ning v Liang Wenbo
    Mark Davis v Jamie Clarke

Some tight matches here, first session 11am. 5pm will be the second.

We've lost a few well known players Joe Perry, Michael Holt, Stevens, Joe Connor, Tom Ford

Been really impressed with Bai Langning, who overcame Mcmanus the round before, had a good win again journeyman Ben Woolaston, looks like he has a bright future he got on the tour for last year but due to COVID couldn't come over and play any events.

Half way house update, some very surprising/ one sided results.
Dott 1-8 Tian Peng  , i have Tian in an underdog bet but also had Dott in another lol but still never expected going into the evening session needing 2 more.
Maflin 7-2 Milkins, I expected this to be alot closer.
    Jamie Jones 7-2 Li Hang
Lu Haotain 5-4 Chang Bingyu, Bingyu impressed opened up with a total clearance, Lu went 4-1 up but some game.
Selt 6-2 Donaldson, another one Selt has made the Worlds twice out of many attempts of being a pro, really hard thought close one so not done yet.
Yuelong 4-5 Highfield , I actually think Yuelong for me with Bingham is a stand out in the qualifiers and has the most potential to do well if he qualifies, not having it his own way here and Highfield would be a shock win here imo
Lu Ning 5-4 Wenbo - Not a shock really Liang Wenbo is so inconsistent and blows hot and cold
Jamie Clarke 7-2 Davis, although the lowest ranking of the two we all know Clarkes talent, Davis still capable but another shock by the scoreline and not the result

i have a treble on Tian/ Maflin & Selt, the supposed value/underdog one, who is going to mess it up from here pays 9/1, £10-£100

This shot alot of people play in pool, its getting alot of hype. He didn't mean to pot it just hit it. Great shot but i think people have gone way OTT in my opinion, what was more annoying Day fluked one in the decider and went on to which means Louis will now have to qualify via Q school i believe.
  • Agreed. Have often seen them use the middle jaw, not so much the corner when that much distance though.

with the distance involved, its a brilliant shot but i've seen it pool and snooker so to me doesn't feel as good as social media has made out. I have seen it going around alot lol
