Addick Addict said:Sam Northeast has left Hants by mutual consent and joined Yorkshire on a short term contract. After that he will be a free agent. Wonder if his fall out with Kent will be buried with a possible return to us? This will almost certainly be Kuhn's last season as he is now considered to be an overseas player and Northeast wouldn't be the worst replacement.
Northeast made 3 on his debut for Yorkshire2 -
I genuinely am concerned over his cricketing future. I am sure someone will offer him a decent contract for the next couple of years but this is not the stuff of which dreams are made.I recall he was after Joe Root long considered as the best batsmen to feature in the Bunbury festivals. Test cricket was seen as almost a foregone conclusion on his career path.
In his search for nation and international honours he chose to move on and has since seen Denly and Crawley emerge from the Kent shadows to step in front of him.
Now it just feels like « another suitcase in another hall »2 -
Mysterious what went wrong for SNE as before this season, he's been pretty successful at Hants. Returning to Kent after a spell away didn't do Denly any harm...0

Coles wasn't so great though and he came back from Hants too. Fair to say the he carried quite a lot of baggage with him though.0 -

It's not as if he's one of the posh boys who doesn't need the money, it seems he's playing for Tamworth now0 -

Yesterday we the 1st day of our CC match against Lancs. No play was possible and they are taking an early lunch at 12.30 today.
I have talked about how little cricket and batting opportunities Billings has had on the England thread but this is also true about Ollie Robinson. He is our top scorer in the CC and played the first three games in the T20 but hasn't been selected since although remaining part of that squad so hasn't played any 2s cricket either. He was prevented by Kent from playing for his club last week because of the fear of taking him out of the Kent bubble especially given the outbreak of covid cases causing clubs to postpone games.
The last time Robinson played any cricket or batted? 13th June - that's over 3 weeks ago. The rest of our top 6 namely DBD, Cox, Leaning, Denly and Crawley have all had at least half a dozen chances in the middle but Robinson has been caught in a bit of a trap. Hope it doesn't affect his form.3 -
Here's a funny one but, perhaps, a symptom of how things work these days in 2s cricket. It's always been a case that a player might trial at one county and then if things don't work out they will then trial at another.
However, there is one player turning out for us today who so far this season has played:
2nd June - Essex 2s v Surrey 2s
3rd June - Kent 2s v Sussex 2s
8th June - Essex 2s v Middlesex 2s
10th June - Kent 2s v Essex 2s
13th June - Kent 2s v Surrey 2s
5th July - Durham 2s v Kent 2s
Poor bloke plays one day for Essex then the next for Kent. He also faces twice in the space of two weeks against Surrey for two different counties. Then, having played all his games either side of the bridge he's called up by Kent to play in the other end of the country!
Such are the "trials" and tribulations of a player trying to secure a pro contract.

Kent have won the toss and elected to bat. Unless DBD has picked up a knock or suffering from illness it looks like he's been dropped with Denly taking over as skipper:
- Z Crawley
- JM Cox
- JL Denly*
- OG Robinson†
- JA Leaning
- HG Kuhn
- DI Stevens
- ME Milnes
- HW Podmore
- JEG Logan
- MR Quinn

Interesting that Logan is playing as the spinner. What happened to Qadri and O’Riordan?0
