I feel like the Simms rumour came from one poster mentioning him as an option and another mentioning that he and Adkins were at Southampton together... No rumour was ever spoken.
All we have heard from the club and Cawley this summer, is they want the right players at the right price. That very rarely comes quickly. Clubs need to line up replacements, clubs start by wanting more money and then they will reduce it a bit.
While we do not yet have a full squad (far from it), we are in a remarkably better place with our team was this time last year. As I have said before, I am sure they'd hoped for a couple more by now, but I would far rather they hold out for their targets than quickly rush people in.
Let's stop with the language that TS is looking silly half way through the window and see where we are at come end of it. I think we are only 1 or two players away from an excellent team to go into the first game with. Squad depth will come over the course of the summer.
It does seem particularly quiet on the signings front. No rumours or hints from Cawley. Either they’re running a much tighter ship as has been suggested. Or nothing is anywhere near close.
No one knew about Matthews or Famewo as far as I could see, then they happened out of the blue. Patience is a virtue...
Loving that bench from the Crewe game though. Five attacking (or at least, 'progressive') midfielders!
That's because at that stage we didn't have our other players yet, in reality that bench was dangerously inexperienced and ill equipped to benefit us if required in defensive positions. Admittedly we were still under restrictions thanks to the EFL.
Comparing us with a year ago and saying we are in a better place is hardly a great compliment, seeing that we were under a transfer embargo at the time, and facing the abyss due to the ownership
And I don't see much difference in the quality of the 2 starting 11s, other than the defence (due to Pearce being injured and Lockyer exercising his option to leave). That 2020 front 3 was decent enough and the 2020 team while lacking defenders on the bench had some great creative options
Didn’t Thomas say that he wanted a player that would get us out of our seats and on our feet ? We certainly haven’t signed that player yet. Still plenty of time but it does look to me that the window and recruitment have been much more difficult than perhaps we thought.

I assume you missed the news that Ben Watson has signed on for another year.

But equally he must've known then that players like that don't come cheap. Thomas is a football man. No player like that is going to come for a free pair of boots and a 12 chip lunch.

Agree, unless there is a nice portion of cod and mushy peas included
Saw that on Airmans Twitter feed yesterday. It is not a great sign to have poor house keeping.
I should think the 2019/20 CAFC Ltd accounts are a nightmare, as they cover three different periods of control, none of them under Thomas, but he is responsible for filing them and disclosing relevant post-accounting date information, of which there might be quite a bit.
It's interesting that Duchatelet was late with Charlton Holdings (far and away the simplest of the three relevant UK companies) and did a technical tweak to get an extension. In practice they were signed off on June 30th, so very nearly filed on time (taking into account the three-month Covid extension). That suggests we might see Baton 2010, which includes CAFC Ltd up to January 21st, 2020, as a subsidiary, soon as well.
Companies House has flagged CAFC Limited as overdue, which is all that I noted on Twitter. I doubt if a few days' delay is enough to trigger a transfer ban given the very complicated circumstances. If CAFC was expected to be very late, I should think TS would have used the same (legitimate) trick as Duchatelet to get a further three-month extension. The fact he hasn't suggests that they are close to filing or that the club's accountants/auditors don't know what they are doing. I favour the former.

In fairness companies house if often a bit behind, they probably submitted the accounts before they became overdue but the website hasn’t yet caught up.

Agreed re CH delays, but the point is that they have flagged them as late, which they would only do if they weren't received by the deadline of June 30th. They wouldn't flag them as late before the deadline, because that makes no sense. They could have gone in since and the status not yet been updated, but only since the flag was raised.
Just for back ground Gillingham were placed under an embargo a month after their accounts were due. However there is also the issue of the monitored loan which I don't think we took.
We wouldn't have been able to sign Stockley for a fee, if that was the case.
Although the accounts would be very messy a lot of it should/would/could have been unravelled in the due diligence work that was undertaken.
They are going to be very embarrassing for a number of people.

I'd say our potential starting 11 is better now, we just need to add some depth and a few loanees.

We've probably got 3-4 more loans to come in, I suspect 3-4 more signings, there is still a lot of movement to be done.

Isn't that an automatic embargo now?
