I’d call BWP or similar players poachers but if you look back at the stats in our promotion season as well as his goals he got quite a few assists. He’s still a poacher though, that doesn’t have to mean a traditional poacher from a decades ago who did nothing outside the 6 yard box.

I wouldn’t expect many L1 teams to do well playing that type of player up front as a lone striker. Even the teams that have a lot of possession like Mk Dons or Brighton under Poyet still had strikers who could compete physically and hold up the ball.

If we are looking at Jephcott I doubt it would be as a lone front-man. I would primarily expect him to be a partner to Stockley or as an alternative to Washington/DJ to give us more tactical flexibility.

Exactly, that’s why I doubt we are. He presumably wouldn’t be cheap and we’ve played a form of 4-3-3 since NA came in. It would be strange to switch formation when we could have played a front two throughout pre-season. We’ve got the players to do it, any two of Stockley, Davison, Washington or a youngster like Ghandour could have played up front as a pair.

If we had been spending like Ipswich then I could see it, but we’re not going to have £500k+ players coming in to give us options from the bench. Anyone we pay a decent fee for will be here to start regularly.

It's a valid point and I suspect you're right about us not looking at him in the first place. But I was wondering if he'd be used as part of the three instead of Washington or DJ - so there's the "target" of Stockley, either DJ or Washington as the wide player providing service and then Jephcott playing more narrowly, or cutting in to shoot.

It's unlikely honestly but if someone has changed regarding his availability maybe TS/NA feels it's worth taking the chance - Gallen said re: Clare they moved at very short notice.

I heard a rumour (well it is the rumours thread) that Kirk and Spock were once overheard talking about Palarse fans - when Kirk ask who those people were, Spock replied "It's life, Jim, but not as we know it".

Kirk is an official rumour, it's been about since early in the window, but was not suggested by any lifers before media types - Therefore it never made it onto my list.

 I think we have to treat rumours as one of four categories. 

1. Lifer's ITK Rumours - Rumours shared by lifers, that were previously unheard of with previously unheard of updates. - VFR4life's Dobson signing is the easy example  
2. Unofficial Rumours - Random rumours from Teenagers & Nixon on twitter.
3. Official Rumours - Rumours announced by the media types. - Sean Clare is the most recent example.
4. Colin Rumours - Regurgitated or made up rumours, usually an hour or so after someone has already announced a rumour. 

Only Cat 1 rumours make it to my spready - though I am certain some Cat 4's have.

But (just playing here) surely all rumours, by definition, are unofficial ..... ?
Otherwise they'd be fact.

I am seriously concerned about the lack of left footed players and apart from Gomes we do not seem to be linked with anyone.

I do not have any real knowledge of Academy football which is why I normally suggest experienced players.

After offloading Pratley and Shinnie and with Pearce and Watson playing lesser roles this season. Would we now consider more experienced free agents?

Charlie Daniels is available following his release from Portsmouth. He would do a job at left back. I wouldn't fancy the right footed Roddy being blooded in the league if there is another injury. 

I noticed that the ex Shrewsbury player Sean Goss was moved on from his trial at Pompey and I was always impressed pre injury by Emyr Huws. He appears to have trialled at Donny, but like all players coming back from injury he would be a risk.
