I think the intended point was that we were pleased to see the wage cap removed, but haven't capitalised by sepnding - or at least not the extent of Wigan and Ipswich. In other words, not spending enough is a bad idea.addick1956 said:

Not sure 10k p/W for the best players in league one is that ridiculous to be honest and doesn’t particularly surprise me.1

Wow, I really didn't think it was possible to miss such an obvious point so incredibly widely. That's actually impressive in how wrong you are.addick1956 said:

Obviously it is early days and things can change but I would think TS must be wondering wtf is going on. He wanted exciting attacking games and atm if we played all day I honestly dont think we would score.
Is Saturday a nailed on 0-0 before a ball has been kicked ?
I can see attendances start to drop significantly until performances pick up which will certainly cause ripples commercially.
Hopefully there are some serious discussions taking place to address the situation5 -
Don’t know if it’s been mentioned but how much do we get from each stream we sell? Would it worry TS that if we’re knocking about in lower L1 come October then we won’t be selling many streams? Our production can’t be cheap, paying minto / curbs etc, we need to be competitive or they’ll be presenting to virtually no one.3

In terms of over all cost streams don't count for much. Before any production cost a stream is net £8. Especially the away game where the home team get some of it.Lurker said:Don’t know if it’s been mentioned but how much do we get from each stream we sell? It's not a lose leader but isn't a significant revenue stream.

It relates to the Premier League players wages that they had on loan.ElfsborgAddick said:

They were probably paying very little of these salaries, as we were certainly not paying Maatsen's & Millar's full wages.5 -
Don't for get Matt Smith's. How could anyone forget him :-)Covered End said:

No chance Sunderland where paying Lee Cattermole £80k per week.

Matthews lost the 2nd goalscorer Saturday (can't remember his name sorry) he had a 5 yard start & looked like he was running in treacle.CAFCBourne said:Rothko said:
Pearce is still a decent enough League 1 player, Watson is probably past it, but they along with Gunter, Washington and Matthews (who are still good players in this division) are needed in this group to give it a bit of experience. Hopefully we add more in the coming weeksarny23394 said:
Agree with what you say, but the players you listed were good players despite their age. Watson and to a lesser extent, Pearce, are toilet.Rothko said:
Exactly, you can't just drop the age and hope it works, even the 'can't win anything with kids' United team had Schmeichel, Irwin, Bruce, Pallister, Cantona, Keane, Giggs and David May (yeah I know, he won a Champions League medal) in that squad and team. You need experienced pros around the kids to help them developSuedeAdidas said:I thought it was fair clear from NA's comments that the Pearce contract was as much to do with nurturing / mentoring the younger players as much as it was to do with being a back up CB.
You can't just reduce the age of a squad by kicking out every player over xx age. Younger players coming through need to see some older, more experienced players along side them on the pitch....not just words from experienced coaches in training IMO.
Pearce is also in the process of getting his coaching badges etc so I think that the extension was a fairly decent decision for all parties.
Matthews is not good, rubbish delivery and stands off his attacker allowing the cross in far too often. The sooner we get a left back I’d give Gunter a go. I’m not saying Gunters better but he deserves a chance in his natural position4 -
Indeed it was crazy, some clubs wont even be spending that an a combined XI.Cafc43v3r said:

Aaron Ramsey (not the Welsh lad) from ASTON VILLA a 18 year old midfielder who scored twice already in 2 games this season in U23 double figures last season has been capped by England at U16, U17 and U18 level. surely worth a loan ?4
-
It’s definitely correct, I remember reading about it at the time. They had a few players on mega contracts, who they begged to tear them up. The players weren’t interested.
Indeed it was crazy, some clubs wont even have an XI on that much in total.1 -
Am still really impressed how tight lipped we are keeping our transfer and loan targets this year. A huge difference from previous years and every other club in fact.

They were still paying some of those players until recently even though they left in 2019. Some ridiculous contracts written up while they were in the Premier League.Charlton_Road_James said:

Last year they paid ex players as much as some clubs in the same division paid all their players. Mental.stoneroses19 said:

The 2021 English football summer transfer window runs from 24 May to 2 September 2021. Players without a club may be signed at any time, clubs may sign players on loan dependent on their league's regulations, and clubs may sign a goalkeeper on an emergency loan if they have no registered senior goalkeeper available.

Might be a decent move, I got confused with his Brother for a moment as know Jacob Ramsey has already played for the Senior Team so couldnt imagine him dropping to League OneTheAddicks4Ever said:Aaron Ramsey (not the Welsh lad) from ASTON VILLA a 18 year old midfielder who scored twice already in 2 games this season in U23 double figures last season has been capped by England at U16, U17 and U18 level. surely worth a loan ?0
