as ianment said we hardly had banners up cunting the Ruskies off and they pulled our pants down with Scott Parker and their filthy lucre 

That we or other clubs have not done this kind of thing before is a shame but it shouldn’t preclude anyone from protesting now. Otherwise that’s basic whataboutery, which is the only defence Newcastle fans seem to have.

I get why someone might think its offensive, but racist?

I’m guessing the image of a a man in traditional Arab dress holding a sword dripping in blood was considered a little on the nose!! 

But it's the prince isnt it? That's how he dresses. Or should they have put him in a suit?

But they didn’t (I’m not saying it is racist by the way - you just said you couldn’t see any way that the banner could be racist, I was just suggesting one possible way)

What way are you suggesting that it could be racist? Because they depicted someone wearing what they normally wear?

If it was just a depiction of "some random bloke in traditional Arab dress" then maybe there is a point. But it's a specific person depicted in his usual attire. So how can it possibly be racist?

Bit late to the thread here, but as much as I hate the cringey nigel slogans about money/football for fans etc, I quite rate them for this one. Good work. Someone needed to say it and regardless of what Chelsea/City stand for its to be applauded I think. Waste of police time though, can only assume the people who complained were Newcastle, which is fucking embarrassing as its all true!
