Know him well. Has been with Rangers after us as his parents moved up to Scotland. Lovely lad and was a CH back then.

  • Didn't Daniel Kanu miss the last U18's then not in the U23s today but a first year scholar is... 2 weeks before he turns 17... An injury? Trying to keep him under wraps? Already know he is off? Other...?

We always think about the football ability but schooling has to be worked out when signing lads who are still Scholars. Category A Academies recruit from everywhere and the youngsters have to move schools to be nearer to training grounds or one of the school's used by the bigger clubs.

The Harris schools in South London, North London and Kent (Orpington) have a link up with the kinetic foundation where Joe Aribo, Baah, Josh Maja, Norrington-Davies and Omar Richards who is now at Bayern Munich (ex Reading) and 50+ others have signed pro deals in the last 10 years after being educated at kenetic with football their main subject.
Most of the lads were released by pro academies and Aribo was a CB when he was a tall 13 year old before he was converted into a Midfielder when he went to Staines for a short period before coming to Cafc at about 16.

Baah was a talent but was a lively lad and released by Palace. He was certainly lively against Cafc at the valley in that first half when he scored a brace for Rochdale at 17. Nearly went to Man city where an ex Kinetic scout worked but eventually went to Watford and is now doing well for the U23 and chose the place of his birth to represent Germany u18 to score on his debut.

Kent has always been a recruiting ground for Cafc for players and fans !
South London and Essex also among our catchment area.

  • Good to see Barker is already back from injury... Unless that's not Charlie on the bench
  • Looks like back to 4-3-3 tomorrow.

Really surprised to see Deji playing in this game !
We have 3 CB missing in Inniss, Famewo and Lavelle.

Good to see Ralfi Hand and Charlie Barker involved.

    Wasn't he out on loan?

He was, but it was cut short due to injury

I did wonder why he'd only played 3 games.

I reckon Gunter will be in for Famewo and Deji will probably play a half tonight and be on the bench for tomorrow.

That would not be clever at all, especially from an injury prevention p.o.v

Agreed. I'd rather have seen one of the surplus midfielders get some minutes, unless as a cup game you can't play overage players

We can wrap players up in cotton wool too much. It mat be felt he needs some more game time.

Realistically you should not play at match intensity two days running, even if you only play a half.

Yes, but some players are more able to do it than others. Especially in a position like centre half.

Where it's more physical than most? I maintain it would be foolish from both a fitness and injury prevention p.o.v. They are both competitive fixtures. Whilst he could be on the bench tomorrow what if he has to come on 5 minutes into the game?

Ok, maintain it, but seeing as he is probably going to be a sub and may play 15 mins or none at all, there may be wider considerations. Sometimes it is knowing the player. I would be surprised if Deji isn't on the bench seeing as he was on it on Saturday and came on.
  • Norwich seem to be 1-0 up. Dean Smith is at the game
