Shouldn't Hamilton of been brought back early in in this race when he cut the corner after Verstappen got on amongst him?1 -
I think Mercedes were too cautious when Max made his first pit stop covering him. But you can't blame them for the other pit stops. It was a crazy finish that is hard to process.0

Disgusting - FIA are disgusting - engineered that - you either let ALL lapped cars through - or NO lapped cars through
Wankers3 -
Congratulations Max... He didn't make the rules!!1

I don’t even like F1 but that’s proper pissed me off11

The F1 stewards should officiate the Ashes. Give us a 200 run headstart to make it a more exciting spectacle3

We would still lose though.killerandflash said:The F1 stewards should officiate the Ashes. Give us a 200 run headstart to make it a more exciting spectacle9 -
I dont understand why cars are allowed to unlap themselves. What is all that about ?. Surely where you are on the track is where you are on the track. If you come in for a put stop that's your look out. Under the SC you are at least saving yourself some time as everyone is going slow & you catch up the pack in the end.
Someone please explain.2 -
That is a point, but they are making it exciting which is what it is. Hard on Lewis though. He will come back strong next year because he is the GOAT.Lordflashheart said:Disgusting - FIA are disgusting - engineered that - you either let ALL lapped cars through - or NO lapped cars through

Well, that’s true - but Masi HAS to follow them.ForeverAddickted said:Congratulations Max... He didn't make the rules!!3 -

Totally confused.
How can LH have a 14 second lead with a few laps to go then it comes down to a 1 lap shoot out ?

I don't totally understand why the lapped cars is an issue. Wasn't it a 1 lap race off with Hamilton in front to begin with but Verstappen managed to overtake him (where it was ok to overtake)?Lordflashheart said:Disgusting - FIA are disgusting - engineered that - you either let ALL lapped cars through - or NO lapped cars through

Its so everyone is on the same lap, means there are no cars in the way so its a straight fight... Had they not moved out the way then Hamilton would have disappeared down the road on that last lapgolfaddick said:I dont understand why cars are allowed to unlap themselves. What is all that about ?. Couldn’t bring myself to watch the last lap. As soon as they let the lapped cars through, I knew Hamilton was toast. Farcical decision.5

In short-Max pitted on a virtual safety car, mercedes gambled and left Lewis out. Then a safety car about 7 laps out, Max got another free pit stop leaving Lewis on old tyres. Masi had to choose between letting all the lapped cars through which would have meant no restart and a Lewis win or letting none of them through which probably leads to a Lewis win. Instead he made up a 3rd option and let just 5 of them through so Max started next to Lewis on his new tyres and beat him in a 1 lap raceAndyessgee90 said:Out for the old dears birthday, was keeping up with it but bbc not actually said what the mess is about. I understand that, but why are lapped cars usually allowed to unlap themselves before the race restarts. Dont understand.ForeverAddickted said:

Hamilton conducted himself like a real gentleman in his interview just now.
Not sure I would have given the circumstances.
He's gone up massively in my opinion.15 -
Max on on fresh fast tyres - it was no competition.PrincessFiona said:

Hamilton extremely gracious and polite in interview, love to know what's really being said by Mercedes.4

Netflix get their Hollywood ending for DTS..... Masi I'd be shocked if he's still in position in Bahrain in March.
Great ending but all feels very on brand for this season with weird officiating1 -

Then it ceases to be a sport if that’s how it operates - stretch a point to make a point - in football, the Ref decides (off his own back) that the last 10 minutes we don’t have offsideMuttleyCAFC said:

“Ohhh, it’s outrageous, the FIA are against us, they want Lewis to win waaah waaah waaah… eh? What’s that? Oh, sorry, I mean what a brilliant organisation the FIA are, excellent decision, all above board, fantastic.”10

Circumstances. A superior car is potentially no competitionbobmunro said:

Because they're out of the way for safety... The field gets bunched up by the car in first once the SC goes into the pits - It already gets messy enough on the restart, you'd be left with cars desperate to get past the backmarkers, and backmarkers desperate to get out of the waygolfaddick said:

One of the worst decisions I’ve seen in sport. Farcical.6

Which is a really contrived way of creating a final lap drama, for what is meant to be a sportrina said:

The bigger news is George Russell (maybe trying to get his new team on side) has just gone apoplectic on Twitter saying it is unacceptable what we have just seen.0 -
Masi saying its an F1 race so they should be allowed to race.
So you let the backmarkers past on lap 57 so they can start properly on lap 58?1 -
That conversation between Wolff and Masi is outrageous. “Toto, it’s a motor race”. Fuck off.4
