Decent loan signings are out there and we've had a few very good ones - the likes of Cullen, Bielik, Gallagher and Dasilva to name four. We should have a decent handle on the ones at PL London clubs and those four all came from there but the ones we've been sent recently seem to have been part of some sort of bizarre agreement just to get them off their host club's books - Castillo and John have made two appearances between them - presumably because they have too many of that ilk and ability.
Castillo is the one that made most sense, on the face of it, when we first signed him.  We didn't really have a natural left wing back.  Out of contract in the summer, good age, pedigree etc etc.

Then the real reason we signed him came up.......
What was that ? I missed that then.
There is the claim we only signed Castillo as part of the deal to sign Aneke

Birmingham wanted him off their hands, Chelsea wouldn't take him back

No. The most disappointing part of a disappointing season. All terrible, except Famewo who was merely disappointing.

None of them get rid of the lot of them.

Keep Famewo if the price/salary is right. He could develop with us, the rest, well it's a hell no from me.

It's a no from me … We need to get shot of all the loanees, get shot of the players out of contract and we need to re-build on the same basis as we did under Powell, Phill Chappell and the Spivs

I'm also inclined to say Famewo. I don't think he is as bad as some make out.

If Elliott Lee was a free transfer then maybe, at a push. Another one who I think at least has a bit of something about him on his day.

Famewo has some serious heads gone moments.
To get out of this shit pit our back four is going to have to be as solid as a rock. I like Lavelle and really think a good solid, reliable partner alongside him could be the key.
I don't see Famewo as that person

Have you been in a coma? We don’t play a back 4 anymore and no chance that changes under Jacko.

To all those saying No to all of them........you do know that means replacing 6 players in addition to the 5 or 6 that will be released/ wont re-sign. A dozen new players to come in. Good luck in getting them all to gel, especially when most wont be signing until close to the season starting.....and the loanees close to the transfer deadline (which will be after 4 or 5 games have already been played).

FWIW- I'd sign Famewo & Lee. We wont be able to do much better.

    No to all.

Famewo - I think he’ll develop into a good defender but he’s frustrating on the ball. If the agreed fee is £500k that’s a lot to spend on someone who isn’t a guaranteed starter.

Lee - with Gilbey and Morgan under contract and promising u18s coming through in time we don’t need more squad players for CM. We also don’t play a 10 and he’s not good enough to change the system to fit him in.

Leko - big disappointment even with the formation not being ideal for him.

Burstow - not good enough to start for us, the striker we bring in needs to properly challenge Stockley, Washington and Aneke, and ideally be better than any of them.

Castillo and John - no comment needed.

What are the chances Nile John goes on to have a decent season for someone like Derby next year knowing our luck 😂

Famewo is the only one that makes me pause for thought but his regression this season reflects the general turpitude and I very much doubt he’d want to stay. So it’s a no from me.

    Since Jackson took over:
    "squads not good enough"
"mid table football from mid table players"
    "not promotion squad quality"
    "no better than 15th",
"never would have got promoted with these"
    "Complete overhaul needed"

"Pearce as a player coach if it doesn't count"
"Got to keep Inniss, great character and community stuff"
    "Purringtons a great back up"
    "Famewo could develop with us"
"Lee as a cheap squad player"

                McGillivray
       Clare Lavelle Famewo
                   Dobson
        RWB Fraser JFC CBT
              Stockley FWD

    Amb
    Purrington
    Pearce
    Inniss
    DM back up
    Gilbey
    Morgan
    Lee
    DJ
    Washington
    Aneke

    Cool, cool..... Cool....

Did the Aneke deal and us taking Castillo, directly lead to them picking up Lyle Taylor?
Strange how these things come back round. Also if that is the case, I imagine it would wind up a fair few in our fan base who particularly don't like Taylor for understandable reasons.

Them getting Taylor ment Chuks was avaliable so it depends which way you look at it.

I wouldn't want to retain any of the loanees.

Famewo was the one where there was, for me, some doubt but has been far too inconsistent, his distribution is poor and his (over)confidence in trying to run out with the ball far outweighs his ability in that respect. I appreciate that he's still young and learning the game but, unfortunately, he doesn't seem to learn from his mistakes. He's not been a bad player for us overall and I wish him well but we do need better.

I'm hoping that some of our young players like Maynard-Brewer, Elerewe, Henry, Campbell and Kanu can start to come through and begin to make their mark in and around the first team squad.

    Frankly....No.

That was Adkins mantra last season, so much so Deji played quite a few pre-season games & we was told he was going to be part of the plan going forward.

Now, with a few games to go & nothing to play for the youngsters still arent being "bloodied" in.....with Pearce (out of contract) playing instead of said Deji and Burstow (not one of ours) playing instead of Kanu.

There is no joined up thinking....and no semblance of a plan.

We had had some good loans in the past but we have slipped too far down the leagues to attract decent players, hence the the poor show this season. I wouldn’t keep any of the present loans, they’ve added very little to Charlton. I doubt we would have gone down without them, we certainly never looked like contenders for anything other than mid-table also rans.
Next season I would prefer journeymen players on frees rather than the premiership hopefuls who don’t deliver.

I wouldn’t sign any of them. Akin is a liability. The dribbling out from the back. No thanks.
Get Lavelle fit and pick up a league one or two six plus footer to play alongside him. Or perhaps Deji next to him if pre season goes well. Two hard organised centre backs please.

Good thing we already have Gunter, Watson, Matthews and Souare on the books! That’s the summer sorted. We can even ask for Arter back…

I’m sure it’s more about money than how long we’ve been at this level. Has been said TS won’t pay for the more expensive Prem loans. He also won’t spend as much on agent fees as some clubs at this level.

Who were the best Prem loanees in L1 this season? Did we miss out on another Bielik and Cullen?
