Late to the party but think you're 100% wrong about Clayden, has been our best full-back in both pre-season friendlies and very comfortable crossing with his left too. If Sessegnon is our main LB, that natural footing is essential to have in depth as I assume teams will be very quick to close the inside channel.DubaiCAFC said:Aaron Henry is a player, this lad will go on to have a good career. Range of passing is very good, very calm on the ball, happy to have it under pressure, and strikes the ball very well!
miles Leaburn is a until, and athlete as well, is he one of the those that will benefit from a loan or will he stay around the first team as he is such a handful..
let’s not get carried away, as Dartford were awful.. players looked more comfortable today with the ball at there feet..
negative for me, Clayden isn’t up to it, neither is Davinson5 -
Anyone thinking of chipping up at Sutton on Saturday, looks like around 20 terrace tickets left, a few seats still going though1

I watched Clayden play as a wing back for the under 23s last season before he went out on loan.Vfrf said:

Whilst he has good ball control he often went down a blind alley. Being so one footed meant he had no options to get a cross in.
He is too short to be a defensive full back. This was shown on Saturday.0 -
Back in the day, I remember a short Kevin Dickinson being the real deal as a defensive full back 😎Crusty54 said:

But apart from all that it was quite good, wasn't it.......Billy_Mix said:Neither Charlton defensive lineup were put under very much pressure.
"Playing it out from the back" & "ball-playing defenders" translates in realtime to playing ourselves into deep trouble even against a side not pressing. Any of that bullshit after 30 July and we'll be conceding moronic goals
Things improved dramatically with Clayden on the pitch, partly the balance of a natural left-sided player but mostly the sheer amount of effort expended, he made a couple of mistakes but at his stage of development that's fine. Today he is far and away our best left-back
Report on Sessegnon from my Fulham S/T colleague: "he's a right back, not brilliant, which is why he got loaned out, he got played in various positions because he's reasonably 2 footed but right back is his best"
Dobbo was Dobbo, comfortably carrying the absence of effort from Fraser and the erratic frenzy from Morgan.
Fraser maybe one or two short dribbles through midfield but barely raised a sweat.
Kirk FFS! Maybe he was overheated but it wasn't from effort. Made good use of that one pass from Morgan and shot through many legs giving their goalie no sight. That apart he did naff all. Jaiyesimi did a bit more than Kirk but achieved nothing.
Morgan ran non-stop, always wanted the ball but it was the ultimate Albie performance: all effort and almost no positive outcome, terrible dead balls and one 45 yard diagonal from which Kirk found the net.
Stockley blundered around with enthusiasm with no actual support from the shirking Kirk or DJ
Against an undercooked 6th tier part-time side, Charlton were better in all areas but 2 - 1 after 60 minutes was fair.
60 minutes on was a different game altogether
In no small part due to the bit part rabble fielded by Dartford but Clayden, JFC, Henry, Davison and Leaburn delivered far more in their 45/30 minutes than their forebears.
Clare took up a right back slot but as in the first hour Charlton were defensively unchallenged - still managed the playing about with it at the back shitshow
Aneke's sheer bulk was too much for the Darts' reserve backline, just his presence was enough to create openings.
I called for a high-scoring demolition and we got one. I hadn't banked on Dartford's resources being so sparse.
We need at least one specialist left back, probably more.
3 words for the repugnant halfwit who brought a flare/smoke bomb: Stay Away Forever
That lowlife needs a lifetime ban.
The rabble behind the goal presumably thought they were having a good time and being funny. Wrong, you're a shameful bunch of tossers that's not needed at any club, least of all ours.7 -
Would love to but have a date in Bath with Michael Buble.....SE7toSG3 said:Anyone thinking of chipping up at Sutton on Saturday, looks like around 20 terrace tickets left, a few seats still going though3 -

Will help with fitness for sure... Best, but horrible time to be out running, especially if they can get their heart rates under controlseth plum said:Goodness knows how they will deal with the heat.

SEVEN THIRTY GUYS.1 -
Well the players coped well enough with a 3pm kickoff on Saturday!2
-
Seeing that this Friendly hadnt been scheduled when I originally wrote this thread.
Dont want Colchester fans feeling left out.
Colchester United: Finished last term in 15th spot, this coming season will be their sixth consecutive in League Two, having last been at our level in 2015-16... Manager is Wayne Brown who took over from Hayden Mullins in January; Freddie Sears (once of West Ham) was top scorer last year with eight goals.
This'll be their fifth Pre-Season game of the summer, having beaten both Bath and Swansea (the latter they played in two sixty minute games, losing the second); Colchester have also lost to both Reading, and Tottenham U23s who defeated them 1-0 on Saturday.
We'll of course be back to face Colchester on the 4th October in the EFL Trophy.0 -

Weren't we linked with Wayne Browne in the Pardew/Parkinson days? Did he play for Colchester under Parky? Ended up at Hull but not with Adkins.ForeverAddickted said:Seeing that this Friendly hadnt been scheduled when I originally wrote this thread.

The number of away fans will be tiny anyway. Unless people want to relive that FA Cup defeat under Fraeye!clive said:cafcfan said:Does anyone know if tickets are available on the door tonight?
