Late to the party but think you're 100% wrong about Clayden, has been our best full-back in both pre-season friendlies and very comfortable crossing with his left too. If Sessegnon is our main LB, that natural footing is essential to have in depth as I assume teams will be very quick to close the inside channel.

Things improved dramatically with Clayden on the pitch, partly the balance of a natural left-sided player but mostly the sheer amount of effort expended, he made a couple of mistakes but at his stage of development that's fine.  Today he is far and away our best left-back
Report on Sessegnon from my Fulham S/T colleague: "he's a right back, not brilliant, which is why he got loaned out, he got played in various positions because he's reasonably 2 footed but right back is his best"
Dobbo was Dobbo, comfortably carrying the absence of effort from Fraser and the erratic frenzy from Morgan.
Fraser maybe one or two short dribbles through midfield but barely raised a sweat.
Kirk FFS!  Maybe he was overheated but it wasn't from effort.  Made good use of that one pass from Morgan and shot through many legs giving their goalie no sight.  That apart he did naff all.  Jaiyesimi did a bit more than Kirk but achieved nothing.
Morgan ran non-stop, always wanted the ball but it was the ultimate Albie performance:  all effort and almost no positive outcome, terrible dead balls and one 45 yard diagonal from which Kirk found the net.
Stockley blundered around with enthusiasm with no actual support from the shirking Kirk or DJ

Against an undercooked 6th tier part-time side, Charlton were better in all areas but 2 - 1 after 60 minutes was fair.
60 minutes on was a different game altogether
In no small part due to the bit part rabble fielded by Dartford but Clayden, JFC, Henry, Davison and Leaburn delivered far more in their 45/30 minutes than their forebears.
Clare took up a right back slot but as in the first hour Charlton were defensively unchallenged - still managed the playing about with it at the back shitshow
Aneke's sheer bulk was too much for the Darts' reserve backline, just his presence was enough to create openings.

I called for a high-scoring demolition and we got one.  I hadn't banked on Dartford's resources being so sparse.

We need at least one specialist left back, probably more.

The rabble behind the goal presumably thought they were having a good time and being funny.  Wrong, you're a shameful bunch of tossers that's not needed at any club, least of all ours.

I watched Clayden play as a wing back for the under 23s last season before he went out on loan.

Whilst he has good ball control he often went down a blind alley. Being so one footed meant he had no options to get a cross in.

He is too short to be a defensive full back. This was shown on Saturday.

Is he smaller than Solly then?
