Once again I hope that losing here, is giving Ben Garner more information to work on during training ahead of the new season, than any 6-1 win will do.
Pre season friendly no.3, with few first 11 starters, let’s put perspective on it.
Oh absolutely - I'd also rather they make mistakes now that can be fixed before the league starts.

Rather than once the season has begun, and we're in that run of Sat | Tues games where its harder to work on things, because the players are having to focus on rest and recovery
I’m guessing BG is finding out for himself what we need to bring in within the 3 weeks up to the season start, he probably knows already to be fair, I’m sure we’ll be more ready than last season.🤞

Hapless playing out from the back is going to cost us goals this season unless we can do it more intelligently and accurately.
Judging the back four that started tonight... I'd be surprised if more than Lavelle started at Accrington
I'm still not sold on Lavelle, i'm hoping we're looking for better tbh.

I hope Colchester don't weaken their side significantly in the second half. It won't tell us much if our "better" second half side is up against kids and hopeless triallists

What formation did we play that half?

Felt a little similar to the Killy game but we had 3 at the back that time. I guess it was 4-2-3-1, but DJ didn’t really seem to play wide and was often quiet deep.
We did not, we played a back 4 in both halves.

Only reason I say Lavelle over Inniss is fitness - Then it all depends if Garner prefers Egbo or Clare at Right-Back, as like how the latter sits back and can create a back three, whilst the other full-back gets forward.

I don't think he's bad but I'm also still desperately looking for what he's good at. Doesn't seem to impose himself on games.

Still don't like Mcgillvery,Morgan not up to being a consistent league 1 player. Ness and Elerewe have a lot to learn, loan move would be good for them.
Sangaard saying he's not looking for a striker as we have Leaburn and Davison with Aneke and Stockley.
Stockley and Aneke are pretty average at best, Leaburn to develop more and Davison is bang below average.

Bit of a weird one that Geroge Dobson is being rested.
Very much a reserve team first half.

    Mac looks uninterested.
    Ness and Leaburn did alright.
Expect a higher tempo second half

    Dobson rested? Really?
    Strange, that.
Agree. He’s had the summer off. Not sure there’s a need for a rest after two friendlies?

Why not play the first XI against Colchester and the second XI against Sutton

Nice of this commentator to avoid naming any trialists... To be honest I doubt he'd be able to anyway!!

As predicted, only 15 minutes out.

One change is trialist, dreadlocks, sky blue boots, for Colchester.

I think it depends who he partners, it doesn’t help he looks a little awkward in his running, I thought he done some good stuff last season.

I thought against Killie it was a back three... With Clayden and CBT as Wing-Backs

As we had Clare - Elerewe - O'Connell in Defence

    Progressive minutes.

First 11 will be the team that plays Swansea.

Better cross from Clayden... Shame Leaburn didnt gamble on getting on the end of it

Good cross from Clayden, it just needed a striker to finish it

I'm going to choose to believe that was a DJ overhead kick

Good work there by Davison and Aneke for the equaliser that’s more like it👏

It really felt like it was a 3-4-2-1 that game with DJ and Aneke behind Josh Davison, Ponytail.

But maybe we are just a bit more fluid under Garner.

No it wasn't it was a back 4 done right.  Clare, Elerewe, O'Connell, Clayden.

Clare tucked in, making a 3 when Clayden pushed on, which was often.

CBT never even came back into our half.  What made it more lopsided (not a criticism) was the over lapping Clayden allowed DJ to often be the closest to Davidson, ponytail, in a more central position.

It was very fluid, and very clever as a first 45 of preseason.

    Missed the bloody goal!

Does that mean Dobson is being rested against Sutton as well? 😱
