I don’t know, he helped us get out of the Championship pretty sharpish…FishCostaFortune said:Don’t think he was ever good enough for a team looking to get out the championship. But think AFC Wimbledon have got a very decent player at the level there, and he’s still going to develop loads.4 -
Darn it I meant League One!RC_CAFC said:

Wow, that happened quickly. I think it's a good move for him and for us. Mostly it's good to see that we're identifying areas that aren't quite good enough and taking action. I'm fine with us having three strikers + Leaburn but the third striker should be able to compete with Stockley and Aneke as much as possible and Davison couldn't. It's a shame, he was very good at coming into a struggling team and looking busy and hard working, but then his lack of technical ability would show him up after a few games. He looked very good in his first few games at both Championship and L1 level but faded badly.I do feel people were far too harsh on him though so partially I'm glad he's gone just because he was clearly going to be the main target for abuse from the fans and he's escaped that. Gilbey's blood pressure mustn't be great right now..8

The game in the Championship at home against West Brom, who got promoted that year, showed that Davison had enough to make it at that level. He gave their defenders a real battering.Dazzler21 said:He had games in the championship where he looked decent enough (1 or 2) but seriously regressed under Jackson & Adkins.
His lack of development since then is more a reflection of Charlton than the player.4 -

Good move for Josh, hope he does the business for Jacko, who will no doubt know his strengths and limitations. I feel in a passing team that creates chances, Josh will bag! Not good enough for us unfortunately, hope we have someone lined up.0
-
Good luck Josh. Right move for both parties. There’s a decent League 1 level player in there with a bit more development but needs to be playing games and League 2 about his level right now I think. Interesting that Garner who had him on loan last season doesn’t want him, but Jacko who sent him out on loan has now signed him for his new club.2

Have a feeling that he’s going to thrive in L2. Just hope we managed to negotiate a good sell on fee for when he’s sold for £m’s.0

The most you can ask of a player is they always give 100% and he did. Plenty of more talented players have not given two shits when in our shirt in recent years.
Good luck to the lad, not a bad word to say about him. Hope he does well at AFCW30 -
The club took the risk of taking up the option on JD to get Tucker.
That didn't come off but we still got a fee for a player many didn't rate.
That's good business by the club.
And if that money, and a bit more, is spent on buying strikers or a left back, or on loan fees and wages for the same, then it will be very good business indeed.
TS has been criticised for not spending the Pope money on transfer fees.
That's slightly misleading as transfer fees incoming go into the overall budget for wages, signing on fees, loan fees and loan wages.
You can't think of it as every penny of transfer income has to go out in the same way. It's one budget covering all aspects of the men's team including coaches and the U23s, etc etc
But the next few weeks will be the proof of the pudding.
Is TS holding back some money to buy or to pay top wages (or both) for the final bits of the jigsaw or is he just holding the money back to reduce his £8m to £10m losses?
Some have already made their minds up on the answer to that question.
Others await events.28 -

wish jd all the best - fwiw, my swindon mate's view on him is the same as most on here - hard working player but lacks quality - not entirely convinced by some of jacko's transfer business to date i must say1

To be fair, I think he’s having to shop in the bargain basement.DOUCHER said:wish jd all the best - fwiw, my swindon mate's view on him is the same as most on here - hard working player but lacks quality - not entirely convinced by some of jacko's transfer business to date i must say2 -
Can you explain? How are they connected?Henry Irving said:The club took the risk of taking up the option on JD to get Tucker.

We were chasing Tucker. Gills fancied Davison so we hoped to do a money plus player swap but that didn't work out.Callumcafc said:

I don't think Davison-Ponytail and Gunter-Completepony are cheap by league 2 standards.SoundAsa£ said:

Good luck to the him, whatever anyone thinks of his ability I don't think anyone can question the work ethic. I didn't think he was actually that bad, was still developing.
I just hope that we are getting another striker in, as I'd rather have Davidson as an extra option than no extra option!4 -
3 years ago he was playing in the Isthmian league so he did well to even get a contract and then play a few senior games for us. Definitely not good enough (currently) to be the main striker at league one level but 9 goals in 21 games for Swindon tells us he will score goals in a decent league 2 side. Could easily get 15+ for Wimbledon next season. Hope he does well.8
-
The point is, no amount of goals this year will convince me he was good enough for us this year, on that logic, it’s an excellent decision all round.0
-
Good luck but it might suit him well to chop that ponytail off I'd say. Bit like wearing white boots in the 90s!0

Good luck to Josh. With Washington and JD gone, you’d think we’ll get a couple of strikers/forwards/wingers now. Stockton and a Prem loan would be decent.0
-
I'll always tip my hat to a player that works his bollocks off every time they played, as Josh did. Hope the lad does well for Jacko.18
-
Wish him well, always tried his hardest but ultimately not good enough for where we want to be.0
-
Always will get respect from me for his work rate, thats the baseline I expect from anyone wearing the shirt. I think he had a sliding doors moment at Gillingham away when he was giving their defence a real hard time and forced their keeper into one of the best saves I've seen live. That goes in, as he'd been played instead of Stockley, and I reckon his confidence in front of goal would have rocketed. Good luck to him better players than him have had to drop down to come back and I don't think its beyond him at all5
-
All the best josh, if he can improve his finishing he can be a very good player at league 1 / league 2 , think he will be a good player in the future, but he’s not right for what we need right now.
Surely must have another forward incoming letting him and Washy go without a replacement would be daft.
Hope we’ve got a sell on clause, if he does come good!

Banging them in at Nice. Ended up having a decent career has our Andy.cantersaddick said:What's Andy delort up to these days?0 -
Good luck Josh, lets hope he goes on to be a Joe Piggott or similar.0

Yes. All been said on here. Seems a good lad and all that but just not good enough for us. And I think he’ll never get to that level so I highly doubt he’ll be coming back to haunt us.I think we could very well be seeing a striker coming in by the end of the week.1

Averaging a goal every 2 games currently in Ligue 1, market value of about £10m. I know he's a bit of a running joke on here, but he is several large steps above anything we havecantersaddick said:What's Andy delort up to these days?8
