edited June 2024 in General Charlton

Young striker joined the u23s from Enfield Town, came through the Peterborough academy. Scored 5 for our u23s while on trial.

Sounds promising from what Steve Avory has said:

Speaking on the new addition, Academy Manager Steve Avory said:

“He’s a centre-forward and by that I mean someone who plays right through the middle. He gives us something different to what we felt we had with our strikers. He shows up for the ball well, he holds up the ball well, he’ll get himself into goal scoring positions and he’s certainly proved that in the league games so far.”

In addition to his goals Davison has earned plaudits around the Charlton academy for his tireless work-rate; “The one thing that impresses you with Josh straight away when you watch him train is his absolute 100% work ethic each and every day. He’s very very keen to succeed and you can see the desire in the way he trains.” Avory continued.

Wasnt there someone else many years ago who joined us from Enfield who was a success ?

Scott McGleish joined from Edgware Town if you're getting your "E's" mixed up? - But then he wasnt really a success with us, more so in the Football League

He's 20 years old and ex-Peterboro academy ..... so a good age and decent pedigree.

Interesting to hear he’s quick and not just a big target man type of striker.
  • I trust the judgement of Bow and his management team completely. They've got far more right than they have wrong. If they're happy to stick him straight on the bench that's good enough for me. Good luck Josh.

Ackworth has slotted in well to the scouting team  ;)
  • So Lyle isn't coming back...
  • Sorry Josh, think you'll have to wait for your debut

    Hardly a replacement

    No.  Exactly.
  • I've been trying to think of an amusing reference to Jim Davidson for 20 minutes but it's just not happening.

Amusing and Jim Davidson generally don’t go in the same sentence

Saw Scott McGleish play the last 15 minutes for Hendon at Hayes the other night. He's coaching at Hendon but still plays occasionally (he's 45 !!)

He's had a pretty good career in the lower leagues and a good goal scoring record wherever he went.

He wants to clean his boots - he is playing at WBA on Sat by the look of things.

    Davison that is.
  • There is another striker at Enfield attracting some attention, Palace apparently one club interested. Muhammadu Faal. 18 goals and 9 assists in 19 games so far. Started his career in Italian Serie C and was at Dulwich Hamlet for a short while.

He is related to Joe Gomez, 2nd cousin or something. Come on Joe put in a good word for us if he is any good.
