Really enjoyable half testing ourselves against the father of Garnerball himself, Russell Martin.

Watching on the stream, but that tannoy sounded well loud just now. Have these finally been sorted out?
  • I hope we might get a look at Henry later.  My Wealdstone supporting chess playing team mate reckons he really progressed during his loan spell last season and reckons he’s a proper footballer.

Morgan is showing some good touches and calm moves, loving his new role and it shows..
Ironic as the best thing he did he didn’t even touch the ball, the close down for the goal!!😂,,, I’m only joking before I’m jumped by the way!!!.

    Positives
     - Morgan looking rather comfortable in his new role
     - CBT is could well leave League One Full-Backs with the need for therapy this season
     - McGrandles looks a decent signing, very comfortable in his first game
     - Leaburn isnt looking too out of place against superior opposition
     - That horn you can hear is the sound of HMS Piss the League getting ready to set sail for the Championship.

    Negatives
     - This is Charlton, there is a League One torpedo getting ready, that'll sink HMS Piss the League in a weeks time
     - Stockley is the one player who looks so out of place in this role
     - Under no condition should Steven Sessegnon be allowed to shoot... His brother clearly took all that talent

Stockley has had some nice touches. Leaburn too but missed an open goal. Other than that the problem with our front three is that none of them look very likely to shoot straight or hard, they are largely support players not specialist  goalscorers. Same goes for Kirk and DJ. We need a goalscorer in the front 3.

It is but it doesn’t feel like it’s being played like a friendly. No doubt Swansea can play a lot better but it’s not as if they’re not trying

Optimistic … Fraser and McCrandles looking good.  Not sure about O’Connell.  Morgan looks to have improved.  C B-T unplayable at times.  OG down to Morgan press.  Leaburn rapid…some good chances but no end result…yet.

Yes a proper striker is required.

Very interesting half.  Kept our defensive shape and threatened on the counterattack.  Encouraging that Garner can switch styles when needed.  McGrandles covers a lot of ground on the pitch.  Our midfield is looking pretty strong in both friendlies and we haven’t even seen Payne yet.  Still need that goal scoring threat whether it be a wide forward or center forward

    That was definitely encouraging.

Leaburn’s height, pace and strength should cause problems for opponents this season. Would like to see him through the middle to see what he can do.

You have to be if you play the Scandinavian - and that’s not a euphemism!

Good first half showing - we were the better side on and off the ball.

Aa most have said in here Stockley is not the player you want if playing 4-3-3. You need someone good on the floor who can take a touch, take it inside a defender & the finish.

Also; sorry to say, I don't rate Leaburn, esp not in this system. He is not a winger or even  a wide forward. All the play is coming down our left because CBT can run at players. Leaburn looks like what he is.....a raw youngster out of his depth.  He might have pace but from what I've seen he cant dribble or cross.

Christ, one poor half and Stockley is a “donkey” all of a sudden. Let’s completely forget the 20 goals he scored in our terrible side last season, shall we?

Based on one game Stockely has been written off...bore off seriously.
He’s literally made one mistake (well 2 if you include that tackle), and has otherwise pressed and linked up play well.

Do you think we need another striker, Golfie?

He’s not suited to the system but he’ll score goals if he gets the right service.

How many of those goals did he score with his feet? People aren't basing their opinions on this one game. I've watched him be a donkey with his feet all of last season. I said before pre-season even kicked off that he wouldn't work up front on his own in this system because he's so poor technically and I wasn't alone. It was even foreseeable before we kicked off under Adkins. The guy is an immobile, un-technical player who is best served by long balls and crosses.

Egbo still in a brace. Good to see big Carl up there!
  • Could do with bringing Yann back!
