Great character actor. His spoon salesman part in Fawlty Towers was sublime. RIP

RIP, a brilliant actor and all round legend. He had been filming scenes for the Doctor Who 60th anniversary recently.

That's a sad one to hear.

Dr Who, The Railway Children, hundreds of other things.

    What a loss.

My wife met him as she lived near him in Weybridge when she was young.

    RIP

    Legend of British entertainment.

    RIP
  • Ahh, that's such sad news to start the day. He seems to have been ever present in one thing or another for as long as I can remember. Gave such a lot of pleasure to so many people over such a long time.

    RIP Bernard.

Absolutely part of the furniture. My first memories are of Jackanory, the Wombles and songs on Junior Choice - they seemed to alternate each week between Right Said Fred and The Hole. Wonderful, versatile talent. Thanks for the memories Mr C. RIP.

RIP. Very sad.  One of those people that's been a constant in British entertainment for so long. Even my 5 year old boys enjoyed watching him in a programme called Old Jack's Boat on CBeebies.
