March.
Guess we caught the golden era, no idea how anyone in their twenties could get in it without a family member our age.
Pretty sure Nitro was always shown on a Friday with Thunder (remember that?!) on a Saturday.0 -
August '87 here, just turned 35.
WWF on Sky Sports around 1995 was my first exposure to it all. Looking back now it was incredibly gimmicky and awful but knew no different at the time.
Notable moments that stood out to me:
- Jerry Lawlor / Bret Hart's rivalry, and the 'kiss my foot' match
- 123 Kid/Razor Ramon
- "Horowitz wins!!!"
- Random short term runs for the likes of Mantaur, Man Mountain Rock and the Body Donnas
- Diesel winning the WWF Championship in record time from Bob Backlund, even though it was a house show.
I never really got into WCW simply because by the time I was watching religiously (1997 onwards), WWF was absolutely taking off and nothing else was going to get a look in. By the time I became more familiar with WCW (1999-2000), it felt quite watered down in comparison.
During the Attitude era, watching Raw at 10pm on Sky Sports 3 with my best friend from school was as important to me as whatever Charlton were doing the next day!0 -
I think everyone found WCW by accident, it was never advertised and the channel TNT showed old films, mainly westerns. Sky would advertise WWF pretty well had even showed the B shows, Superstar and Shotgun. Later they would get Heat off of Channel 4 who wanted to get rid of it following Royal Rumble 2000. That PPV was WWF's chance to make serious money, although things didn't turn out too bad for them in fairness. One of the 5 terrestrial channels in the UK showing one of their shows at a decent time and some live PPVs completely free to a potential audience of the whole country and they have Mae Young getting her puppies out and a pretty bloody street fight! Numerous complaints ruined the deal in a matter of weeks!
Late 90s early 00s were a golden era for wrestling and Charlton.1 -

I was talking to my mate at work about how we could blag going to London for work next week (he lives in Glasgow, me in Yorkshire) because SummerSlam 92 is "live" in box Park. Then he told me he was one the month after it happened. I could have cried.0 -
Just seen this and absolutely pissing myself #nomartynoparty

The first Wrestling I remember was recording WCW Worldwide on ITV Late Night, Sting in his original guise was attacked by the Dangerous Alliance!
Then my parents got Sky & I can vividly remember watching WWF Superstars on a Friday night on Sky 1, The Undertaker just rolling out the way of the Berzerker who tried to stab him! Can’t remember what I did yesterday but those 2 are clear as day2 -
I know i've plugged the channel before on here (I swear i'm not him lol!) But for anyone who missed the WCW years I highly recommend wrestlingbios on youtube, who has a twice weekly series called "reliving the war" which gives a breakdown of literally every Raw and Nitro (and a special on each PPV) from the start of the Monday night wars - he covers every match, and every storyline - fantastic nostalgia for me on the WWF side and i'm also learning a lot about what was going on at the same time in WCW - the series has just passed the Montreal screw job and the most recent video is up to Starrcade '97, which to my shame is among a lot of stuff going on in WCW that I knew next to nothing about being a WWF fanatic exclusively at the time.
If you can get past the accent I highly recommend it.0 -

Not sure if it’s some sort of work (wouldn’t surprise me with AEW), or just Punk being unprofessional.0 -

Good to see Gargano back. Brilliant baby face if used properly.
Just watching the segment now. I don’t know what all the fuss is about regarding Austin Theory, personally.1 - Sponsored links:

Thought Raw was excellent again. The HHH era has definitely begun
