We need a striker that can score and finish off chances in the box. Washington isn't that.
Or that other teams in League One also don't have strikers that can score.
Washington and Stockley this season have a grand total of 2 goals.
Colby Bishop (signed this transfer window) has 4.0 -

Karlan Grant and Lyle Taylor are the prolific two we had...
We lost one because he was out of Contract in the coming summer and had to get a fee or nothing for him. We only kept the Taylor because he was under Contract, but still left the moment he could, and still wanted to go straight after we won promotion as he wanted to go Brentford.
Mendonca | Hunt | Bent | Kermorgant are the prolific Strikers we've truly kept hold of in recent years.
Could add Wright-Phillips, but League One in England was clearly his ceiling level0 -

If we sign a striker/ goalscorer as good as or better than Washington in next few days then I'll be glad and will see it as an improvement or at least match for what we had...if we don't it will seem very foolhardy that we didn't retain him.
Particularly as he's a key man in a Championship side.4 -
Terrible finisher. Glad we got rid.1
-
Just needs to do that more often Callum, which I do agree with in terms of the criticism towards him - Its ridiculous how he can score chances like that, and like his goal @ Morecambe last season, but will often fluff what appears an "easy" opportunity.2

He would have scored one goal for us from open play but missed the penalty that Stockley scored. That's how it rolls at Charlton!0

He's moved on, to a team higher up, and is playing every week, maybe you didn't rate him, but clearly right now the Rotherham manager does1 -

Getting a goal in a 4-0 hiding is like praising Stockley for scoring a penalty. Meaningless.2 -

Subbed off every single game at the hour mark.
Seems about right.0 -

He doesn't fit the style, he doesn't fit the formation and he doesn't fit as a lone striker.
If he fancies turning himself into a winger then sure thing but even then we need to look at the 0 assists he provides.0 -
Washington doesn’t suit the way we are playing now. He suits a direct team playing 2 up front, which is why he worked for Jackson and is working for Rotherham. If Jackson had stayed then we should have kept him, but with the direction we have taken it was the right call to get rid. We need to replace him with someone more suited to the style7

There's no denying Rotherham are doing very well.
Also, they've had a really easy start.0 -

Callumcafc said:Terrible finisher. Glad we got rid.FA is spot on, at times he finished like a top player but it’s all about consistency. Showing him scoring the occasional good goal is fairly meaningless if/when he’s missing other chances.1
-
Well that’s it then, Rotherham are as good as in the PL and Washington is going to be their player of the season, it was a massive mistake letting him go.
This is all based on him scoring one goal mind.0 -

What we really need is a detailed break down of Rotherham's SOS and SOV to aid the argument.14

If that's the only game he scores in, it points to him being unable to get into goalscoring opportunities, or finishing them off.0 -
I think that the majority of fans agree, that we would be better off with Washington than with no replacement.
I think that the majority of fans agree, that whether it was correct or not, for us not to renew his contract, depends upon whether we get a replacement and whether the replacement is better than Washington, or at least as good and perhaps on a lower wage.19 -

Does that make Washington's goal less or more important than a 1-0 win?0
