And yet when we made it to the PL we sold out, from a previous low average attendance. So no reason why the same wouldn’t/couldn’t happen again, not necessarily just with old fans returning, but with a mixture of new fans, those wanting to watch Premier League football, and some whose families has always ‘been Charlton’ returning to the fold (fairweathers).
Agreed if we get back in pl we will sell out as do most teams that get there, all I’m say is a lot of the new fans will disappear quickly when we start falling down leagues and our smaller hardcore will be left
  • Tuned in for the Cambridge game early and that other chap was sat there with an iPad talking through the show into a coms in his ear. Just him sat at the desk, called the mrs in to say “I don’t think they realise it’s on”

Last season they did the same with Minto and Holland, was having a chat and mentioned TS. Minto then got a call to say you’re on air.

Not sure if it's a sign of incompetence or something more worrying but the video for the Gillingham game was "free" for the first 25 minutes, or so, is someone that doesn't know what they are doing in charge so the blocked countries element just isn't working?

Anyway I'll just wait for the usual suspect to turn up and tell us how Gallen is just deadwood holding Martin’s vision back and that its refreshing how Thomas is standing up to the EFL.
The Gillingham game was available in the UK so that issue was more than likely a gremlin. Some things ring true based on what we know but some things don't make sense. Garner may indeed be fed up - he can't be happy with the striking options he has but would he tell somebody who spread this, and the same source seems to have spoken to Gallen too.

The work permit is a new one but we have multiple sources telling us Thomas' wife is working for the club. The more I think about removing the block, it doesn't make sense. My son did access a game I bought from Northern Ireland put he used my account as I also watched it from 'abroad'. He didn't have a VPN but that could be a gremlin too. You can't make money out of doing this without promoting it surely.

I'm not saying it is true or false, but it wouldn't be too difficult to create such a rumour based on things we already know and adding to them. But not sure why anybody would want to do that.
  • It's a strange one. Gallen comes across well and has had some success with us and seems to be well regarded in the game. He has had to deal with some grade A fuckwits messing in places they should not mess in, who I would expect have, moved goalposts, delayed and pulled the rug from under him on more than one occasion at the last minute.  Would I be sorry to see him go?

  • You mean …. Hot Shot Hamish?!
Was nothing without Kevin Mighty Mouse.
  • I get Jokat but Gallen has been here longer through arguably more of a circus & just cracked on. He’s getting a good wage. Unless TS decides he’s not worth the money & gets rid I just can’t see him walking personally.
But then, what do I know 🤷‍♀️
I can’t remember his name but an analysis guy at SL mentored MS for a month/six weeks and was of the first to be shown the door.
I’d hope SG is clued up enough to transfer his contact list to a personal phone, if he is going.

    To find a mole? 🤔

  • I am undecided about Gallen and how good he is but when his only real successful (in monetary terms) acquisition /trading is Macaulay Bonne after, what, 4-5 years at the club I doubt he will have a huge list of employers prepared to pay him well.
On the other hand, him leaving would leave TS and MS in charge of recruitment and you can forget anything happening in January.
Could it be that he's unable to do his job properly/without interference/ to his own high standards etc and as such, is in the firing line ( no pun intended) through no fault of his own ?

Or maybe he's unhappy with the manner in which staff are being "made redundant" and is looking to jump before he's pushed?

I'm pretty sure that Steve would be regarded as a credit to our club but if he's working under limitations - if his job description has been  changed for instance-then he has to think of his future & with his credentials, should find a post where he's appreciated without too much of a problem (IMO)

Pure speculation on my part, of course, but lifeboats are fast disappearing on the good ship CAFC it would seem.....

    Just makes Gallen's tea....

That's a bit like saying don't criticise Morgan, because Reylen (or whatever her name is) is the alternative
Not what I meant, I’m saying Gallen going without being properly replaced is very likely to make things worse.
  • Is TS still able to discern the difference between ‘better’ and ‘worse’ ?

Or indeed "richer" or "poorer" ?

This is it, I’m concerned he’s entering megalomaniac mode and got his blinkers on

That he walks around with a large briefcase that actually only contains a single sheet of A4 paper that has the QPR phone number on it in size 72 comic sans.
That’s a bit harsh.  He’s also got a Rolodex with Jonathan under J and Leko under L

  • I've got no idea whether Gallen is actively seeking another job. I do know he was offered a job around March time, which he turned down. It's quite possible the summer means he's had enough.
  • Understand Gallen is presently on holiday.
  • I swear to God, if somebody had asked me back in 2006 after "we sent the Palace down", what future I wished for them, I honestly don't know if I could, in all my wildest immature sadistic fantasies, have come up with a more horrendous shitshow than we've had at Charlton (barring a couple of outlier seasons).
I am hoping those latest tweets are some attention seeking loser trying to make mischief, but I just can't tell anymore.

Was watching the palace academy documentary earlier and was thinking the exact same thing.

I always try and pin point the exact moment in time that started the avalanche of disappointment we've faced over the years. The sliding door moment.
And every time I'm having one of these flash backs from hell,  Richard Murray's Weasley face always pops up in my mind.

  • I'm not so sure. We took more fans to Wembley than Sunderland. The problem is, you have to keep improving the product which was beyond us then and has been so since the days of Curbs.
Doesn’t mean that much I fear. It’s very expensive for Sunderland fans, and they’d had several trips to Wembley around that time. More of a rarity for us, and much cheaper.
