I did enjoy Biden being held up as the parade of hero’s (MC and VC medal holders) passed in front of him.
No idea why the US has to be treated differently?
Suggest it was just bad timing, someone got something slightly wrong, other than that it seemed to go flawlessly
Apparently his big car got stuck in traffic, unlike the world leaders who got the communal bus.
My original query was to do with why the US need a big car? Just looks ridiculous that they are allowed to do this...
I think security was the given reason
  • Thought the ceremony at Windsor was achingly emotional.

Why don't all other world leaders require the same security?

I would guess the President of the US is one of the most likely targets of terrorist activity in the world, so needs proportionate security protection.

I'm trying to remind myself she was 96 and she lived a great life.

It's still a sad time though and this has all happened rather quickly.

I told my amazon alexa to play classical music. It certainly maximises the sorrow by quite a lot!

Edit: I feel a sense of emptiness.

Rest in peace queen elizabeth Ii

Always feel grateful that my various immigrant ancestors ended up here, so I was lucky enough to be born and bred and raise my family in this wonderful country.

After these past few days, and particularly after today's awe-inspiring events, I feel extremely privileged to be part of this great nation.

RIP your Majesty, your people loved you and we always will.

There were so many possible targets today. The protection didn't seem proportionate.

Absolutely no offence intended, but there are probably slightly more qualified people than you making those calls (or at least I hope there are!).

Yes, it is an unexpected sense of emptiness.

I guess it's a feeling of acceptance creeping in.
  • It's been slightly odd how the media have completely dropped other news for a week, whereas you know from tomorrow they'll revert back to all the other things which were happening before this period

Will be a bit longer than a week.
Christmas day when you forget and the kings speech comes on at 3pm
  • That final piece on the BBC has done me....Kirsty Young was close to tears... as was I....she has gone....RIP ma'am xx
A brilliant closing piece by Kirsty Young, you could feel real emotion there.

I’m not sure - certain media outlets still regularly run headlines on Princess Diana!
  • I coincidentally started watching The Crown on Netflix the week before last.
Had been meaning to watch it for a while.
Only got 3 episodes in and the news of her majesty’s death broke.
Just sat down to episode 5 tonight to watch a young Elizabeth trying on the crown.
    Had to stop watching.

The last week or so just doesn’t feel real. Kind of surreal, movie like, and I think it’ll take everyone a long time for things to feel normal. Especially as lots of things will be hitting us for a while yet.

Over the next few months and years we are gonna face so many changes, changes to things we’ve never given a seconds thought to in our lifetime.
God Save The King when England play.
A Kings Speech on Christmas Day.
New money, New stamps. Each one another reminder.

Depends ultimately on how you view the US - I understand that.

Been a lot of emotions stirred over the last 10 days. If anyone is struggling in any way, make sure you reach out and talk it out

    Worth watching in my opinion
  • Well said boss

  • I hope Charles finds time to grieve in peace.
  • Go on then, how many of us knew the second  verse of God Save the King?
I enjoyed the 2nd verse a lot. Think we should sing it at sporting events.

Apparently there are loads of verses including one about defeating the Scottish and Catholics. Not sure that one would have the same feel.

Given how many times the pipe band played the Skye Boat Song during the procession, I think it's safe to say the Scots and Catholics have been forgiven by now.

Quite a few horses struggling now.

Not really fair on them to be put through all of this.

It's been very emotional. Beautiful even in places.
I doubt the horses used at Windsor will be the same as in London.
Probably not, with loading and unloading from horse boxes etc... however the horses for the latter part were struggling along the mile. It was likely uncomfortably slow for them.

Anyone who wants to sing the other verses go to Ibrox park when Celtic are in the away end.

    Royal Thoughts:

Charles and William are in a strong position as King and Prince of Wales and Andrew will now have a one way ticket to the Falklands Islands where the sheep will run for the hills.

Harry and Megan will realize that the Monarchy has reclaimed it's status since the death of Diana, plus the reaction to the death of the late Queen and H+M will continue to make money in the states but may well decide to tow the royal line now and not swim against the royal tide.

The timing of the Queen's death this year was sad but it was ideal for Charles and Camilla who are looked upon as soul mates now and not people who cheated on their partners especially to Princess Diana who suffered with mental health issues when her husband was unfaithful from the start.
Hell hath no fury than a Princess scorned in the media age and she did have many lovers in the last chapter of her short life because she wanted to be loved.

What a difference with 26 years ago when Queen Elizabeth upset so many with her initial reaction to Diana's death. When PM Blair had to inform QE2 of the public mood and not listen to her advisors and keep quiet.

I feel really conflicted about yesterday and the last 11 days when it was clear that we  can spend a fortune on a Royal funeral but the homeless will return to the streets of London and our relatives or ourselves will lay on trolleys if the ambulances can even get to us in time.

If only we could run the UK like the way we are world leaders in Pomp, Pageantry and Funerals.

The juxtaposition is there to see.

Quite like this selection of photos, although none from the Windsor procession sadly which I thought was more touching/personal.
