  • Many of us are so lucky to have the best city in the world on our doorstep. No wonder people from all around the world visit it time and time again. Different class.

On a side note, glad the weather has been good. Would have made everything a lot more difficult had it been pissing down.

What a display this is. I know they keep fit, but King Charles has to be pretty tired by now - an incredible effort at 73.

I personally hope him and camellia can take a 3/4 week holiday outside the UK and just do nothing.  Switch off for a bit.
Spend the millions and take it easy.

The country needs Charles to be fully rested and fresh before for what lies ahead.
  • I live in Southampton and besides going to Charlton games, I always try to get up to the city for at least one weekend trip as love visiting and seeing some of the stuff I have multiple times before but its just so fantastic that ill always wanna see it again....truly is the best city in the world.

Ive always been proud to be British but today just pushes that up another notch.

No one does tradition like us.

    God save our gracious King,
    Long live our noble King,
    God save the King!
    Send him victorious,
    Happy and glorious,
    Long to reign over us,
    God save the King!

    O Lord our God arise,
    Scatter our enemies,
    And make them fall!
    Confound their politics,
    Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On Thee our hopes we fix,
    God save us all!

    Not in this land alone,
    But be God’s mercies known,
    From shore to shore!
    Lord make the nations see,
    That men should brothers be,
    And form one family,
    The wide world o’er.

    From every latent foe,
    From the assassins blow,
    God save the King!
    O’er his thine arm extend,
    For Britain’s sake defend,
    Our father, prince, and friend,
    God save the King!

    Thy choicest gifts in store,
On him be pleased to pour,
    Long may he reign!
    May he defend our laws,
    And ever give us cause,
To sing with heart and voice,
    God save the King!

Andrew sticking out like a sore thumb in his morning suit when the rest of the family are in their military togs. Notwithstanding the blindingly obvious fact that it is his mother’s funeral, he really looks as though he doesn’t want to be there.
It is slightly ironic that the 2 royals that served in an active war zone cant wear their uniform. They must both have high feelings I would imagine

Interestingly I can hear helicopters going over already, even though the cortege is a couple of miles away.

The 6 navy ratings directly in front of the coffin are a whole head taller than the rest of them !!
Said the same to my missus. Absolute giants.

Pictures are going to be tricky in this bit, as the A4 is hidden by the M4 and the neighbouring buildings coming towards Brentford
ETA and it is incredibly surreal seeing the M4 completely empty.

    Flawless.
The value of preparation and rehearsal.
It may have been ten years in the planning, but to achieve the degree of living Theatre we have seen today and last week has been prepared within a maximum of ten days. That takes an awesome amount of work.

Really annoys me the amount of people with their phones out
  • Astonishing numbers of people lining the route of the hearse. They're out on the A30 now and there's still hardly a gap on either side.

The big ceremonial procession was quite hypnotic. Couldn't take my eyes off it, even though it was basically the same people marching to the same tunes all the way. The bit that really got me, though, was before the service when they set off with the gun carriage for the first time, with the pipes playing. That seemed very personal, after she made pipe music a big feature of her husband's funeral.

It wasn't a concert like overwhelming amount, but still a portion (few people) lost within a digital age. A tad soul destroying.

Why not just live in the moment?

Its been an emotional day...I and Mrs RM have shed a few tears....a wonderful lady has gone...and how well have we shown the world how to do things properly, with reverance and respect....yet also a celebration of her life.
Wonderful ceremony timed to precision, pomp and circumstance at its very best.

Looks like one of the horses might be having a bit of a wobbly on the parade up to Windsor Castle.

Sky News has been excellent all week and today is no exception.
  • Incredible event - I am very patriotic, but I can’t describe myself as an out and out monarchist (I have my views on certain members of the Royal Family, one in particular !!) - but The Queen is above and beyond by a country mile - a fitting send off - my word, the British know how to put on a ‘show’ - no other country could pull off anything like today

As an aside, I noted how men much taller than The King were placed ‘around’ him on the walk to the hearse - no surprise there - the Police Commander for today will have had the most stressful job - basically shitting himself for hours

    RIP The Queen

    Long live The King

Born British - you have won the lottery of life
