On such a sad day London is being shown to the world as the fantastic and beautiful city it is.
I agree that no other country or city in the world could pull this off.

Not wanting to start the political animals on here off but seeing what a big part Scotland has played for the last 10 days it makes you realise what a massive shame it would be if the independents win their cause there. The UK together is a fantastic site to behold
  • For some reason I didnt realise there was a statue of King George, let alone the Queen Mother on the Mall

Given the Queen Victoria Memorial | Victoria Cross etc. I wonder if there will be similar things created for Queen Elizabeth.

The sound of the bagpipes and band is incredible
Always much better from a slight distance and in a wide open space, I find. I thought it was interesting that the Pipers from the Scots and Irish regiments were mixed in together, rather than in two separate groups. Interestingly, the ITV coverage has just said that the various brass bands that are marching along the Mall are all playing the same tunes, but in a different order, so that as each one passes a given point they will be playing a different tune from the ones that have gone before.
  • It's funny how you normally take things for granted. I've walked the route of the funeral procession loads of times, as I've crossed London, without every taking in the history and majesty of it.

For a split second I thought that was Richard Osman - there was someone very very tall with specs on camera a minute ago.

I don’t think it would change huge amounts on occasions such as this. The main party in favour of Scottish independence (SNP) have the retention of the monarchy as part of their constitution I believe.

I second that (as a proud Scotsman).

I dunno if it's just because they're wearing white hats that the effect is especially pronounced, but I'm finding the swaying effect of the Royal Navy lads marching in step particularly hypnotic whenever they're in close up.

The guy marching behind him, the last civilian before the naval company pulling the gun carriage, is one of my best friends and he’s 6” 2, so the bloke in-front of him must be enormous.

According to a random bloke on Twitter it’s Matthew Magee, assistant private secretary to the late queen. 7 foot 2.

So what would a 'Royal' do right now if they really need the toilet?
  • Fortunate enough position today to be able come leave the office and watch the procession pass up Whitehall such a moving experience

Glad Huw Wotsisname is commentating sparsely. Just enough to let us know what’s going on without (just about!) all the usual BBC obsequious waffle. The Irish guy commentating at the Abbey was getting on my tits.

How come he's ended up in the procession?

The 6 navy ratings directly in front of the coffin are a whole head taller than the rest of them !!
  • London looks truly wonderful today. Haven't been back since pre-pandemia at it's making me very nostalgic.

Andrew sticking out like a sore thumb in his morning suit when the rest of the family are in their military togs. Notwithstanding the blindingly obvious fact that it is his mother’s funeral, he really looks as though he doesn’t want to be there.

What a display this is. I know they keep fit, but King Charles has to be pretty tired by now - an incredible effort at 73.
  • Unbelievable spectacle - what a city
