Was mooching around the west end tonight and literally hundreds of Moroccans and their cars bring Oxford Circus to a standstill. All good natured. Will be interesting if the French do the same if they win0

There were big celebrations on Edgware Road!AFKABartram said:Was mooching around the west end tonight and literally hundreds of Moroccans and their cars bring Oxford Circus to a standstill. All good natured. Will be interesting if the French do the same if they win1 -
After the French played their last game there was a massive police presence in the Champs Elysess in case of trouble, they even had water cannons strategically placed on side streets, can't imagine what would happen if they lose.AFKABartram said:Was mooching around the west end tonight and literally hundreds of Moroccans and their cars bring Oxford Circus to a standstill. Whisper it quietly, but does anyone else think the winter World Cup has made the quality better?
Players seem to have a lot more energy etc as it's mid-season in most leagues rather than looking knackered like recent tournaments10 -
Yeah but only for countries with this climate or souther hemisphere. Wouldn’t want this time of year in GermanyNorth Lower Neil said:Whisper it quietly, but does anyone else think the winter World Cup has made the quality better?

Think the opposite is true.North Lower Neil said:Whisper it quietly, but does anyone else think the winter World Cup has made the quality better?

Let's hope that carries on tonight to teams beginning with S.ken_shabby said:So the RO16 has seen Senegal, Spain, Switzerland and South Korea go home. Bad time if your country name begins with S.
Fingers crossed the F's suffer next.2 -

Luckily Charlton are on TV tomorrow to ruin everyone's nightNorth Lower Neil said:Two days with no World Cup games now is completely unacceptable really.
Stockport v Charlton: ITV4
The TV figures will be so high for the 1st half as viewers need their football fix.
2nd half figures will be lower than the last episode of Eldorado. The BBC TV soap, set in Spain at great expense.

The winter world cups grown on me.
It's passed the test in my eyes
I like the fact that football returns after the world Cup is over and there isn't a monthly gap.
Sure, the summer occasion is all round better, but there are pros and cons.
This is likely to be a one off winter world Cup, but at least we know that if it happens again, its not the end of the world4 -
This thread is now closing down until Friday 9th December 3pm KO when The Dancing boys of Brazil will play the walking footballers of Croatia.
Please head to Stockport v Charlton Thread or Our favourite Trains Thread in the interim.

What are people's favourite goals of the World Cup so far?
The mexican free kick v Saudi Arabia was pretty special.0 -
I would probably go for Richarlason in the first group game (the kind of overhead kick) but there’s been some good ones.ValleyGary said:What are people's favourite goals of the World Cup so far?

His one the other night with the keep-ups and the 1-2 was pretty class too.se9addick said:

That Portuguese hat trick was pretty special. Each goal a different skill.North Lower Neil said:

soapboxsam said:7 out of 8 favourites won in the round of 16 and most went up a gear or two. Croatia aren't the team they were in the last World cup and look's like they did well to get this far.
Morocco have achieved by becoming the first North Africa country to reach the Q. Finals of a WC.
Brazil and Portugal to get to the semi Finals and Netherlands/Argentina and France/England so very close.

Eden Hazard retires from international football aged just 31. A sad decline really, he was a shadow at the World Cup of the player he was1 -
Chelsea played a blinder there, got the best years of a fantastic player and sold him for £90m-ish just before he turned rubbish.2

They really didn't surrender and his saves were the sweetest thing leading to a celebration of immense pride after such a beautiful day. It was so cruel for Spain to exit and now for them the dream is over.EugenesAxe said:Gotta give praise to the keeper, apparently where he’s from the streets have no name…0 -

Neither of which mean they didn't play a blinder on Hazard.iaitch said:

Not individual brilliance but a great team goal with 21 passes which would break down on the 7th or 8th pass on a good day for Cafc was the 21 pass move by the Netherlands with Depay scoring. Never been snobby about goals and an assist by a keeper is fine; don't mean OG !1
