    2017. I think,
Caeserea amphitheatre to be more precise . Back then that long way trip was a regular thing...
They must have toured the UK... no..?
If they have @lennylowrent, I’ve never seen anything, though that in itself isn’t surprising, I’ve long since had my finger removed from the pulse!

    Monica Irimia
  • Apart form Miles Davis I haven’t heard of the other 4………has anyone else?
    Gilberto Gill.....................The girl from Ipanema
A song probably most have heard but an influential frontman is pushing it.

  • Arthur Brown certainly got people to take notice with 'Fire'.
  • Ronnie James Dio, Roger Daltry, Jagger, Levi Stubbs,Tyber Cranstoun
  • No mention of Gary Glitter 😀
  • Anyway my vote for the best in this category as I interpret it is Michael Hutchence. I feel blessed to have been so close. He radiated love, energy, excitement and happiness. I will always love him.

If only the music wasn't so bleh.
  • I've been to hundreds of concerts and the best front man performance was without doubt Michael Hutchence Wembley Stadium 1991.

Hardly a frontman indeed is our Joao...

I like to assume you have innocently  confused Joao Gilberto, with Gilberto Gil...
    Here he is.

    Possibly.
Influencial in the Latino world maybe.
  • Fela Kuti, if you re going down the global route, and also influenced lots of western artists, if that's suddenly the criteria
  • John Coltrane
    Miles Davis
    Robert Plant
    David Bowie
    Lou Reed
  • In terms of influential, it would be people I'd never seen, like Elvis, Little Richard, Howlin Wolf, Muddy Waters, Bessie Smith.  Jagger etc were the ones influenced by them. Bowie is interesting as he was drawing influences from outside conventional rock n roll, like Anthony Newley and theatre. And I'm not a fan of their music but you can see that same drawing from theatre with Freddy Mercury.
In terms of those I've seen who I thought were the best/most memorable:

Toots of the Maytals was excellent.
Julian Cope was deranged (though he was channelling his inner Iggy Pop at the time) and memorable. But not a performance you could do too often.
    Helno of Les Négresses Vertes
    David McComb of the Triffids

There will be more I've not thought of as work has gone mad this morning

  • Brett Anderson of Suede
  • Fadgadet / Frank Tovey , literally spilt blood and broke bones for his Art , influenced countless Electronic, EDm, Synth
     groups .
  • Mark E Smith if we're just generally naming anyone reasonably good.
