We are 10 points off the play offs, 10 points clear or relegation and 12th in a 24 team league. Cant get more mid table mediocrity than that!! But we need to remember that a few weeks ago we’d have given a lot to be in that position. We will be marking time for the rest of this season until the ownership situation sorts itself out. But at least it’s progress of sorts.

Good result, much better under Holden than Garner.3

Good three points if not a great display.
The full backs were both poor, especially in the first half. Centre backs both did well. Midfield okay and Kilkenny will improve with game time. The wingers were dangerous but did waste a lot of opportunities, and Bonne was anonymous until his late chance. Subs did well.
The ref was terrible right from the start and luckily nobody got sent off.
Need now to consolidate and a win next week could give us really good momentum.

This may have been my fist correct score prediction of the season, or possibly my second. Very poor.0

Holden has done a superb job coming in to our club at close to its lowest ever ebb.We have a steeliness to us that we’ve not seen for a while. We’re playing to players strengths and recruitment in January looks to have brought in better players in correct positions.
Sessignon for Clare and Leaburn for Bonne and I think that’s a really decent team for the level.
Lets keep building on it and at least show play off form for the second half of the season.11 -

Delighted to hear Kilkenny had a good game ☘️
Even happier to hear everyone remembered Ben.

Sorry if I’ve missed it on the match thread, but what offence did JRS commit in holding up a shirt? It wasn’t a removing a shirt and I thought that is what the laws refer to. Potentially if he had held it up for a lengthy period then it could be deemed time wasting but it surely wasn’t the case as it seemed a relatively short goal celebration?0

A hard fought win, though to be honest it was a bit of a smash and grab. However what we do have now is resilience, which makes such a difference.
I "moaned" in the first half about us scoring down the wrong end, but in reality most of the key moments of the match were down the other end. It was an uncomfortable second half for the Charlton fans, which perhaps explains the relatively subdued atmosphere.
Encouraging debut for Kilkenny, he looks a shred signing.4 - Sponsored links:

E I E I O UP THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE WE GO.
Great day, good win. No complaints at all1 -
Great day out. We were so comfortable at 2-0 but some really poor defending for 2-1 made it a bit nervy for the remainder of the game. No idea if it actually was because the crossbar was blocking half of it, but that save from Maynard Brewer in added time looked absolutely unreal. Kilkenny looked tidy as well, probably my man of the match.
One more victory and Holden has matched the number that Garner managed to get.7 -
For me, Clare was the obvious weak link. For their goal he had drifted inside, which is fair enough if you actually pick up an attacker, but found himself just standing 10 yards out and marking nobody. Too many times he gets caught daydreaming with the ball and we almost got punished for it 5 minutes after they scored. He often finds himself in space with the ball, but seldom drives forward with it and when he does, it's usually just a jog. He's 4th best in that position and only finds himself in the team due to all the other 3 being injured. Yes, I realize that he's not a natural full-back, but I really don't see a place for him in this team once players start to return from injury and expect to see him sold in the summer11

How much longer is Kane going to be out, obviously we cannot rely on Sess?1

Decent result today.
Defense and quality on the bench are our weak links. Luckily our wingers made up for that today and put the game to bed in the first half.0 -
Holden on the train home buying everyone beers. Mates are with him now. Said he’s unreal.59

A welcome 3 points in an overall tight game. Kilkenny had a very good debut - shades of Josh Cullen perhaps?Deano paying homage to Ben Jay during the post match was a very nice touch considering that he too lost a loved one at a very young age. Well done you Addicks!4

Just to confirm for one poster on the Match thread just after the game finished:
The Win didn't stop a rot as we have won 4 out of our last 5 League games.
The football is the back story at Cafc at the moment and despite the top 6 being beyond us we need momentum going into next season when we will have new owners and more players leaving but hopefully not the 'Assets'.
Well done Dean Holden for picking a team which won 3 points and ignoring the advice.1 -

So to bounce back and get a win is particularly good to see, and that it was probably as much due to efforts and belief as quality even more so.3 -
We got lucky but obviously will take it. Can't think of anyone other than MB who had a good game, but no one had a stinker either. But we would have lost that game not to long ago so a good sign for the rest of the season.2

Great 3 points today.
I had my heart in my mouth at one point when it looked like we were trying "Garnerball" again. Thank God we did not continue with it.
Dean Holden doing a really good job and fits in at Charlton like a hand in a glove. Long may it continue!6
