Out of interest what do you call poor conservatives? Sewage-water drinkers? Or is it only rich people having values that don't match their perceived economic interests something to slag off?0 -

The BBC management couldn't have handled this much worse.1

So after all this he’s back next Saturday, what a mare BBC have had.3

With 2 live FA Cup Quarter Final ties plus Match of the Day on next weekend, they cannot afford to have the same disruption as the weekend gone.BR7_addick said:So after all this he’s back next Saturday, what a mare BBC have had.

The detail reveals that the British state in the 1930’s forcibly deported Jewish people to their death.soapboxsam said:seth plum said:In the 1930’s, fuelled by the Daily Mail amongst others, Jewish migrants were forcibly put on aeroplanes by the British authorities at Croydon airport and sent to Germany.
Maybe Lineker should have pointed out on twitbook that the Tory hate speech was like Britain in the 1930’s.
I wonder if the BBC would’ve suspended him for alluding to that truth from British history.
No surprise on the stance the Daily Express and the Daily mail took, But over two days: 29/30 March 1939, 498 people attempted to be accepted as refugees when landing at Croydon airport and only 20 were refused. It appears that most of the 20 came from the region of moravská ostrava/mährisch ostrau in former czechoslovakia, a centre of the coal and steel industry and a vibrant jewish community before the war.
It's not clear why the 20 were denied entry.
This is appertaining to the picture of the man being carried to the plane by Policemen.
The devil is in the detail but most people had fuck all in 1930's Britain and worse was about to happen.

Anyone know the viewing figures for MOTD from Saturday compared to before?
I preferred it without all the waffle.3 -

Massive viewing, obviously most of that will be contributed to curiosity. I’d guess this weeks will be massive also just to see if GL makes a sly dig or relevant comment.ValleyGary said:Anyone know the viewing figures for MOTD from Saturday compared to before?

I can accept the vote of others, but I don’t see how there is a situation where (if you know how they voted) it is out of order to hate those who voted National Front or BNP amongst others.swordfish said:seth plum said:People can have different opinions, it is when those opinions are manifested in actions that hatred and division occurs.
A vote is an action.
Yet without division, there'd be no vote. I can accept other's voting as they do without hating them. That doesn't mean I agree with what they're voting for.
I wouldn’t ban those others, but reserve the right to hate them vehemently.
I couldn’t reach a state of rapprochement with racists for example, especially when I start from a position of hatred and contempt. How does toleration and acceptance come about in the situation I describe, be a teensy bit racist myself in order to get along with them?0 -

100% VG, I have just watched MOTD2 and enjoyed it. I normally fast forward all the analysis and waffle so no need this time. Plus the crowd noise was amplified due to not having commentary meaning the atmosphere was better.ValleyGary said:Anyone know the viewing figures for MOTD from Saturday compared to before?

I say sack the lot of them and put the money they save towards a new season of Happy Valley4 -

Fully understood, and we're drifting so far down the river from the thread subject I feel quite embarrassed.seth plum said:

Incidentally, loving seeing you use the word 'rapprochement' here. Don't often see that, or expect it on CL if I'm being honest. I was going to extol the virtues of the English language, but as that has distinctly French undertones, I probably shouldn't, not in the spirit of entente cordiale.5 -
A farcical situation really, ends with the only outcome possible.
Personally, I missed the commentary and punditry. After all didn't everyone praise TS for making Charlton TV a professional production with a presenter and pundits?9 -

Never said it was a bad thing, have your read ''The Ragged Trousered Philantropists by Robert Tressell,
that will tell you about real Socialism!0 -
I just want to say thanks to all.
I was worried this thread would either get moved or closed.
I really enjoyed the debate and am really glad I got to read some of your thoughts on what could have been a difficult subject.

You obviously think i care more than i do. I didn't 'already know', thats why i asked. Perhaps people would have prefered to boycott it, seeing as most are on Lineker's side.soapboxsam said:ValleyGary said:Anyone know the viewing figures for MOTD from Saturday compared to before?

[edit: by ‘it’ I meant matches with no commentary. Of course there’ll be a few neutrals whom might prefer no commentary at all as well.]
The viewing figures were way up, of course, through curiosity.4 -

I don’t have an axe to grind. What’s with all this ulterior motive stuff, I preferred it with just the goals and crowd noise, exactly like how sky put up their EFL highlights on YT.JamesSeed said:

Sorry but I have zero axe to grind - couldn't give a flying F about the whole matter or what any sports presenter has to say about politics.JamesSeed said:

BUT I do always fast fwd through ALL of the chat on MOTD (managers, Shearer et al), which is 100% cliches, banalities and statements of the bleedin obvious.
I also preferred it without the same and the ludicrous hyperbole from the commentators.
It was brill on Saturday and at 20 mins tells you how much BS fills up the rest of the programme.7 -
Do people know you can actually watch that version of MOTD every week on YouTube from SkySports?
People don't tune in at 10.30 on a Saturday or on a Sunday morning to "just watch the footy", why would they when it's already available?
This weird pseudo-justification for not having presenters/pundits is backwards.16 -
Always just fast forward though all the chat but wasn't a fan of no match commentary.3
