The pigeons will be attracted to seed that has been sown mid-season. If the pitch was looked after properly they wouldn't need to be reseeding mid-season, but we all know the ground-staff weren't allowed to do a proper job last summer.7

Who is this fuckwit? This club is so toxic, i mean i miss attending and CL is my only real connection nowadays but why are toxic twats like this character allowed to prosper?

In the old days the worry for larger clubs at this level was visiting smaller clubs, where the poor pitch would be a leveller. There were big problems until new drainage was installed and the pitch was relaid by the same firm that worked on Wembley stadium.T_C_E said:

This might upset a few people but when I worked on the Valley pitch with Maurice Banham as a kid during the summer hols and on weekends in the late 70's we used to shoot the pigeons in the old West Stand with a shotgun.KBslittlesis said:

What exactly is wrong with the pitch?
From the East stand, the grass appears (to my eyes) to be green and lush, although it has an odd texture, almost a spray on effect in places.
The goal mouths appear to be kept in good condition, compared with the 'just ploughed' condition that was rife during the 1970/80s at most grounds.
Perhaps there is a catering professional within the club, who is also an expert groundsman, who could provide an explanation?

From behind the Covered Upper where I am it looks very patchy and bobbly throughout in general. Also the immediate surrounding perimeter looks dark and tired. As others have said it probably didn't help getting a few games on like Cheltenham, Bristol Rovers but then again I'm no expert either it's not like this winter weather has been a one off either.0 -

Someone ordered in an inappropriate temporary boiler, I believe the terminology used was........"It was more suited to heating a couple of flats than a football pitch".MuttleyCAFC said:

In fact someone saw exactly the same model boiler heating the academy rooms at Sparrows Lane and thought "Thats exactly what we need at The Valley for the pitch" and ordered it.
As if someone would want to try to make a name for themselves and do something like that?
