Correct decision from the stewards on Bearman | Martins, even though it doesnt really matter now

Shame the top 2 today in Vesti and Doohan probably have very very slim F1 chances
  • Phew... Bearman got P10 and a point, deserved after his outstanding start to the race.

He's got potential at this level, but has a lot to learn

A single point for Olly Bearman in 10th.
Vesti, Doohan and Daruvala, 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

As FA said earlier F2 really is the series to watch, far more entertaining than F1.

F2 genuinely looks wide open this year and no one looks like dominating it

What happens when you have a largely spec formula, same as the IndyCar opening race too.

Doesn't matter how much money they throw at it and how many times they change the rules and regulations, throughout history there has been period after period of domination from one team who have cracked the code for each era

Verstappen currently 2nd favourite on Betfair, trading at 2.76. Perez fav at 2.34.

Alonso 6.2, name your price the rest.
  • Why is a full SC required for where Stroll's car is???

Makes you wonder if they do it on purpose to make it more of a race (and let Verstappen win).
  • Not sure why the SC has even been needed for so many laps
  • Absolute bullshit for needing a full SC

GPS claiming the car was on track, why not use cameras???

The Red Bull looks in a completely different league

F1 has become so risk averse in recent years I'm surprised they haven't put speed limits around the whole track and not just the pit lane.
  • At least Russell gave us an amusing moment today

"Dont worry we'll get Alonso when he serves his penalty".

    "Penalty has already been served"

    "Aww f**k"

I’m not going full Verstappen conspiracy, but the race is a bit of a precession. Safety car closes it up and maybe gives them a bit of overtaking.

Great drive from Checo but the Red Bull is in an absolutely different league
  • Congrats on making F1 as dull as shite again

Max’s wanker of a father not even acknowledging Perez at the end when he was celebrating with his team. Absolute c**t

The feeder series are going to be where it's at for the interesting action. Even if Mercedes bring some huge upgrade it looks like it wouldn't make enough of a difference
  • Russell gets P3... Alonso gets a 10sec penalty after the crew started working on the car before the initial 5sec penalty was done.

Shame that it had to be decided after the race.

Shame like Singapore last year, that the driver at fault wasn't told, the incident happened over 30-laps from the end, more than enough time for Alonso to try and make the gap

Crazy they did that after Ocon got penalised for the same thing last time out (and also start box error)

Drive to Survive must be hoping for some behind the scenes controversy this season otherwise the next series is going to boring as hell.

Crazy that Mercedes didn't realise that it might be a 10 second penalty and tell Lewis to stay within 10 of Alonso.

I read Alonso was a bit upset, not because of the penalty, but because it wasn’t announced until after the podium. It happened around 35 laps. He implied if he had known about it, he might have tried harder to keep a 10 second gap, and I’m sure Mercedes might have tried harder to close it. This, and the stupid unnecessary pace car make me question the competence of the stewards.
